I've attended Methodist churches before and was quite comfortable there.
My denomination is Nazarene, and I find we're pretty well alligned on the improtant stuff.

I should be starting my Deacon studies soon.....

I just became a SAHM about a month ago and am still adjusting. When DH comes home every night it is just fine but Monday night he was out of town for work and by Tuesday midday I was going crazy. I think I also need prayer for patience.

to you all! (hope i didn't forget anyone!!!)

for the mama interested in methodist churches, nope, sorry i don't know about that denom. i grew up lutheran as well (was confirmed, married etc in the church i grew up in) we now go to a church of God- several thigns are different, like Baptisms- you are Baptized after you've asked Jesus to be your sacior- which a baby cannot do we worship with singing and clapping, and dancing around is fine, as well as tambourines etc. we have a praise team, that sings and leads every week (i'm in it) whereas i grew up in choir (we are starting a choir back up incidentally, but the praise team will still be the main singing, the choir will be special occasions and such if i'm not mistaken.) there is speaking in tongues etc, which is somethign definately different from how i grew up. there are several other differences as well, but this is HOME.

anyways, we've had an eventful past few days. i had to rush dh to the er yesterday, he got stung by a bee.

last time he was stung was in 2002 was by 2 bees, and it nearly killed him. he was in the icu on a vent for several days etc. thankfully, i was able to bring him home, and he was pumped fuill of enough benadryl epinephrine etc that he didn't have a rebound reaction like last time, so i was able to keep him home, PRAISE THE LORD! there are several other things going on, some good, some couldn't be further froim good at the current time, but i'm hoping that all will turn out according to His will. my mom will be returning to full-time hours next week, and so hopefully she'll start having a little money to be able to start paying some of her bills again. my mil is still in a cast, but she has a walker now, so she is getting around a lot better, and she's been able to go back to work ft as well. so many other thigns, but i gotta go get dinner put out so i can bathe the kids and we can get our clothes laid out for church in the am. i pray all are doing well, and will ttys.

BarefootScientist, I went to a Methodist university. I don't know how closely they follow the founder John Wesley's ideas, but he was very passionate preacher and would be horrified at the consumerism in the world today...Anyway, I know George W. professes to be a Methodist, but they've told him they do not believe in the Iraq war...

I am not overly familiar with the Methodist church - I used to work at a Methodist summer camp, but rarely attended a Methodist church, I was raised in a non-denom and have been attending Assembly of God churches (2 because I moved...but ironically so did our pastor - so I have been in to churches but with the same pastor LOL).

Ok- first some praise..
We got approved for WIC and my DS got approved for state healthcare earlier this month! This is huge, because my DH has been out of work for 4mos and I'm a SAHM/student. I'm not even sure if I shared this in this thread also..I walked through the grocery store fighting back tears earlier this month because I had no idea how we were going to afford groceries through this month - even formula (just supplementing). When I finished paying for my groceries I fell apart because I was so disappointed that God had not provided someone to pay for my groceries (I was convinced that that would happen because I had prayed for a miracle) but God works in his own way, the phone was ringing as I opened the door to my house and it was the WIC office saying I could come in for an appointment that day and they gave me checks that same day...God provided not just for that day but continuously!!!

It just amazes me how I think I have things all figured out - but I am actually putting limits on what God can do; in reality I should just be trusting in him.

Please pray...
For my DH in his job search, he has actually just turned in a resume to work at a Christian ministry that helps at risk boys as well as MANY other jobs...just pray that God opens and closes appropriate doors! Also we are on a credit improvement plan and hoping to buy a house by the end of the year...we are actually working with a Christian reality/lending company! - but that would be another thing...just that we make the right decision!

I have been a member here for a while but I never got into posting much, mostly just reading...maybe this thread will help me get over that

I've got one son, Ben, who will be 19 months old at the end of the month, and we have been waiting (somewhat patiently :-p) for God to bless us with another child.

I live in Oklahoma and there are a lot of Christians in this state but not many Crunchy mommas, Christian or non :-/.

We attend a Church of Christ and the theology meshes with my own pretty well and I grew up in a capella churches so I am very used to that, but we had an unpleasant experience re: nursing when my son was a newborn and I am not sure I will feel comfortable there if/when we have another little one who needs to nurse nonstop. I hate looking for a new church though :-/.

Anyway, I am happy to find this thread and I will try to keep up with it .

In regards to the person asking about Methodist churches, I was Methodist from about age 4 until I graduated. I don't see much difference between methodist and Lutheran, which is what I am now.

The weather is FREEZING here!!: Right now it's 5 degrees. And next week doesn't look much better.

My DS breastfed nonstop too! I just did what I had to do. I did find an older mom for a buddy though who'd BF her three kids until they were each three!! After that I didn't feel like such an oddball!

Most girls in my church are sincere christians, but not crunchy at all. I enjoy knocking their socks off every once in a while! You do WHAT?! :

Cloth diapers!? No formula?! No Vaccines?!

And my personal favorite, 'so why didn't you have hen circumcized?'
To that one I replied, 'If you really want to know, I'd love to tell you!'
