Working Out

Does anyone know how long ppd you have to wait to lift weights? (Not for weight loss-for a hobby)

I need a "me" activity and thats the one I want to do.

If I cant start soon I am gonna go nuts, and then join a yoga class I guess.

After the day I've had...it's time to get back to the gym for some stress release.

I don't know but am going to ask the dr next week when I go. I can't wait any longer either, but I'm still sore down there so I don't know if its a good idea or not.

Can you call your HCP and ask? I had a C/S and I'm waiting for my 6-week check for the all clear. I took a long walk today, and might start doing that more often (especially since Olivia actually stops crying for awhile when I walk with her in the wrap) - and the exercise really helped with my dismal mood today.

Ditto this. If you start bleeding heavily after tapering off, then slow down your activity. Of course, you can always just go and sit in the steam room at the gym while you take a few days to rest.

I am still bleeding a little at 1 month pp and my midwife told me it is from overdoing it. I am hardly doing anything but I guess it is just too much for my body. I agree with the other ladies. Your body will tell you what it can handle. I did more with my first 3 than with this one but I am doing too much this time nonetheless.

I asked for a gym membership for christmas and I'm looking forward to using it. I'm only eight days PP so it's way too early, but it will feel nice being active again. I've always heard six weeks for heavy activity, but I guess you can do some gentle stretching and floor exercises before then?
Hanging out in the steam room sounds awesome right now. Mmmm. I want a sauna. Also, my home waterbirth has made me realize that it would be pretty cool to always have a hot tub in the living room.
