Mine makes the most perfect nighttime changing table. It's also good for storing clean diapers.

Ours has also turned in the perfect changing table and diaper storage area. At least it's getting some use.

our "sidecarred crib" is great for clean laundry. We also keep clean diapers in there.
Our bassinet is a wonderful changing table.
Whoever created the SIDS rule-babies should sleep on their backs in their own crib-never met my DS-we tried that and it lasted all of 30 minutes!

I haven't bothered with one this time around. The Pack-n-play next to dd1's bed (where the 3 of us tend to sleep on nights DH is at work) holds diapers and occasionally the baby if she's sound asleep and dd1 needs extra special cuddle time.
The in-bed snuggle nest thing we had for dd1 made a great receptacle for clean diapers, water bottle, and receiving blankets. And after a particularly strong thunderstorm a couple of weeks after her birth we found out it's also a perfect bed for a 50lb basset hound who is terrified of thunder.

Right now it has 4 books, two balls of yarn, a couple sets of knitting needles, a few boob-soaked prefolds, and an extra shirt for me for the middle of the night in it. Alice has slept in it 20 minutes max, while I made the bed. Lol.

the bassinet has stayed right next to my side of the bed since kieran was born, despite the fact kieran has never slept in it! it holds diapers, wipes, a camera, books, my glasses, lotion, etc. etc. dp has threatened to sleep in it, just so it gets "real" use - i'd say i use it a lot!!

A place where dd#1's dolls go "ni-night" under as many baby blankets as she can find. Also a wonderful place for dd#1 to put puzzle pieces and blocks.
At least this time around I kind of knew I wouldn't use the bassinett. Though I am using it abit more the past couple of nights. Avye has really been fussing lately, and dh is not around at all anymore (due to school and work) and I must admit, after wearing Avye all day and trying to keep Sofie occupied with anything other then destroying the house (I usually fail at that), I put Avye down in her bassinett and she sleeps there for a couple hours before I go to bed. Then she comes to bed with me, as I feel lonely without her.

The cosleeper is holding the unused bouncy seat and the unused snuggle nest

This thread is making me glad I didn't bother with anything this time! My older son's moses basket holds his stuffed toys. These babies were born to snuggle, I guess!

I have actually gotten some good use out of Cyrus's Moses basket. I take it into the bathroom with me while I take a shower, and the hot steam and shower noise conks him right out. I put him down in it occasionally if I'm moving around the house and can't have him in the sling, like if I'm cooking. It's such a small, warm and cozy space and he seems pretty happy in it.
This thread is cracking me up. If I owned Arm's Reach, I'd try to make this thread disappear.

The cosleeper is holding the unused bouncy seat and the unused snuggle nest
![]() |
we've actually been using our cosleeper for *gasp* the baby to sleep in! since i tweaked out my neck dreamfeeding her, dh & i have been putting her in there when she's done - or when one of us wakes up and she's not hungry. i find that as much as i want everyone in my family in the bed, i don't move at all when they are, and then i wake up with an injury!
my bouncy and swing are also being used quite a bit now - until my neck thing heals, wearing dd for long periods aggravates the pain.
....how i long for a king sized bed- and a bedroom big enough to fit it!!

Dh folded the unused snuggle nest and threw it in the unused crib. We also have birthday presents, wrapping paper, clean clothes and dipes in there. The bassinet beside the bed is empty, I try in vain to get the baby to sleep there. She does all this weird snorting if I don't hold her, so I can't sleep.
I do use the bouncy seat though! She likes to vibrate.
Lili uses the swing, she can reach the floor and pushes it with her feet. She has actually fallen asleep in it, so I'm not complaining!

i'm impressed - this must mean you're wearing your babe all the time, right?

Hee-hee...Toren HATES the co-sleeper and absolutely DETESTS the snuggle nest- he screams BLOODY MURDER if I DARE to try and lie him in either! (Thank God they were gifts!
) He will nap on his own- (rarely)- but ONLY in our bed- he can definitely tell the difference 'cause our bed has one of those memory foam pads on it and he just LOOOOOVES that thing! I'm a little worried that he won't sleep on anything that doesn't have memory foam on it now...
So, yeah... the co-sleeper holds the abandoned snuggle nest, a bunch of cloth wipes and diapers- his dirty clothes- and usually my cats. (the 2 fuzzy ones think it is their bed!)
But I would let him nap in there once in a while- if only he would!

but the new babe, perhaps as a result of being #2, doesn't get the "special helicopter" parenting (
) from me & dh, and i'm attributing that to her ability to sleep in the cosleeper - if she cries, we don't always have to ability to immediately tend to her. she's got to have a full belly and be sleeping pretty deeply to begin with - and then we move her. so far, it's worked most of the time.sending "sleeping on your own" vibes your way!

Iris has never touched the snuggle nest - I should probably give it back to my cats, who were sleeping in it before I washed it in preparation for the birth. It has been living in my also-unused crib.
I love my Moses basket, however. I felt really frivolous asking for one, but I actually use it more than anything else. It lives on my coffee table (I know - great decorating scheme), and that's where she goes when she's totally conked out and I get a chance to do something besides hold her. It's helpful for her to have a place where she's safe from the puppy kisses.
The bouncy seat is reserved for when I shower. She loves it for just about the same amount of time it takes me to shower, and then she's done. I have a separate shower and tub, so the bouncy seat stays in the tub, also to protect her from the puppy love.
We've tried the swing a couple of times and no go. She hates it. We'll see if she changes her mind in the future. Luckily it was a hand me down, as was the snuggle nest.
I wonder if I'll ever use the stroller we got as a gift.....

Anything that implies to her that she should sleep alone is met with a scornful cry.
