Do you have access to a TENS unit? They can help labor get moving. Nipple stim?

Just back from getting checked out at the hospital. I have been on a constant roller coaster between calm, centered confidence and self-doubt because of my practitioners. Yesterday I left the hospital with a great attitude and good numbers to go along with it, today my doctor was there and refused to point out anything positive about the obviously thriving little girl I am carrying. Instead, she harped on me about my blood pressure, dangling the placenta abruption card in front of me. Suffice to say she did everything in her power to make me feel like s*** and knock down my positive attitude. If I didn't want to keep getting the NSTs every few days, I would just never call them again and walk into an ER when I am in active labor.
I'm so glad there are people here who are not afraid of their bodies and their babies' ability to know when it's time to come out!
Sorry for the rant, I'm just really fed up.

PGinthe612. It's not an easy spot to be in. Here's hoping you're laboring soon and can set aside that set of stressors. In the meantime, it sounds like you're doing a great job of dealing with the unwanted pressure.

stay strong mamas!

you're all in my thoughts.....

Not in your DDC, but thinking about you guys and sending you lots of wonderful labor vibes!

Ok, well, my midwives and I came to a consensus - even if my amniotic sac DID break, its clearly not broken now, so DH and I are going to GIO tonight. Even if it doesn't induce labor, maybe it'll make me feel less like murdering people. :

Oh yea, we have tried manual stimulation until orgasm for me, and that hasn't helped, as far as labor is concerned. I need my DH's man juice. :

This is a very naughty post. :

lol Starry. I know what you mean though, it seems that my partners bodybusiness is the only thing that makes a lot of progress. I can't believe how much my body reacts to a fluid his body makes - it sends my mind spinning, in the same way this whole babygrowing thing does.

PG-
I know Exactly how you feel, and wanted to know I'm in the same place. I have a NST tomorrow as well, and am not worried about it at all - just worried about having to stand up for myself and my body.
I feel that my body is just a variation of 'normal.' My babies are carried for a few weeks extra, its just how it is.

Physically I feel great (minus pelvic bone) - I do not feel stressed, or as if I am pushing myself. I do not feel like the pregnancy is wearing on me any more than usual.

I am SO looking forward to labor though.
All that intensity, the endorphins, the sexiness of contractions. I'm just psyched. Total weirdo, I know.

So anyways PG - you can lean on me. I trust your body, and I trust your body is doing what it needs to do. That baby will be born on its birthday, and I have faith that this is normal for us.
We just make babies outside of the box.

I feel the same way - I love the intensity of contractions. And I think they are super sexy also....:

Well, I mean, thats what they are - oxytocin rushes.
They're just an intense orgasm taken to the extreme.

I actually appreciate that I had a few days of prodromal labor to get used to the cntx. I've learned how to incorporate them more effectively, and treat them as a sensation other than pain.

We'll see how I feel when I get to transition, but at the time, I am really loving being a woman.

Yeah, same here, I had, like, no symptoms of labor until right before I had the baby. I maybe felt a tiny bit crampy the day before, but otherwise, it was zero to baby in less than a day.
Y'all are doing great, and we're all rooting for you.

I am rooting for all of you! Please come out and join the party babies!

PGinthe612 -- I was so feeling like I could *not* trust my body to birth the baby the day or two before I had the baby. I was crying and feeling really crappy about the whole thing. I could not have been more wrong -- I birthed a 10 lb baby with a *huge* head through my small body frame without any intervention or pain medication at all. I have one small tear from it. So count me as another vote as a woman who trusts your body to birth your baby.

Oh, and I am another one who thought no baby today at 10 AM and had my baby in my arms by 7PM.

You are strong, amazing mamas!

I'm totally jealous of y'all who get to experience a natural labor - so I'm sorry it's taking so long for it to start for you ladies, but it's sooo cool that you trust yourselves and your bodies so much

You mamas are just awesome. You are definitely lifting my spirits. After talking to my doula, I've decided I will probably keep going and doing the NSTs every few days. If they piss me off too much at the next visit, though, I am going to try just calling a community clinic and seeing if they'll do the NSTs for me and then go to the county hospital when I'm in labor. I am soooo tired of the scrutiny I've been under.

Sometimes I am feeling mostly like this: , but I keep getting these rays of hope from reading the posts here.

I am working on cultivating the idea that I may not be having strong ctx now, but I COULD BE later on tonight.

OMG I AM! Whoah! Maybe this is the real thing.

Please pardon my quoting myself.

(wife&mommy, I haven't the faintest clue about the answer to your question . . . )
