it couldn't have gone better! we're having some trouble juggling things like keyboards and the placenta right now so I may have to wait a bit before typing out the whole birth story. It was 4 hours from when I was "pretty sure" I was in labour until he was born, pinked up, and nursing. No breathing or latch problems and he looks so BIG for a not-quite-37 weeker. I haven't weighed, measured, cut the cord or done any of tha "rude" stuff yet, but my guess is well over 7 lbs and quite probably over 8; definitely "cooked" anyway.
ds1 came in right as I hit transition. I thought that dd was in the house and later found out she wasn't. I was in the bathroom, so of course Chris didn't stick his head in. He said he was going right back out again, so somehow i held it together for a normal conversation that ended in "I love you, son."
He's been back a couple of times, most recently was even in the same room as ds2 but didn't notice him.
dd came in 20 minutes before the birth. I called her into the room right as the head was out. She did great supporting his head while the body came out in one push and bringing him up to my chest, where he sleeps as I type this.
I'm pretty sure I know what his name is, but I can't "officially" say it until his big brother notices that he's been born and we discuss it a bit. Besides, a name just seems like such a cumbersome and unnecessary possession for someone so new and innocent.
More later.
