Ingredients for a "sleep pillow"?

Hi everyone,
This may be a long shot but...my DH is having trouble falling asleep at night and something that he had in the past was some sort of a sleep pillow (it was thin and and some herbs and things sewn inside that he said acted almost like "chemical warfare" he zonked right out after laying his head down on it.

Anyone have any clues/ideas what the ingredients might have been? How about directions on how to make one myself?

Thank you all so much for any help!

I just checked out a book from the library that was all about sleep pillows! I'm at work right now but I'll try to post the recipe when I get home tonight. In the mean time, the book is Making Herbal Dream Pillows: Secret Blends for Pleasant Dreams

Mugwort is one common ingredient, but the main one for sleep is HOPS.
Hops are the flower buds that go into beer to give it the bitter taste, but as whole buds, they just smell kind of "green" (as I recall). They do indeed induce sleep, but just so you know, they suppress libido too.

Whatever the person finds to smell pleasant with the Hops is probably okay too, though something like peppermint might be too stimulating.

Restful Sleep
1/4 c. lavender flowers
1/4 c. mugwort
1/2 c. sweet hops

Stress-Reducing Sleep
1/2 c. sweet hops
1/2 c. mugwort
1/8 c. majoram

Peaceful Slumber
1/4 c. roses or rose petals
1/4 c. rosemary
1/4 c. lavendar flowers
1/4 c. sweet hops

To create your pillow, assemble the listed ingredients and place is a ziploc bag. Shake to mix, seal, and put away for 24-48 hours to allow the fragrances to blend. The dream pillow is a small bag or pillow made of cloth and filled with herbs. To make the pillow, cut out a 5" x 6" piece of cotton fabric. Fold it in half, making a 5" x 6" piece. Stitch up the two sides of the pillow, leaving the folded side not sewn and the one open end. Launder and dry the cloth without using any fragrance or fabric softener. Turn it right side out and place a cotton ball-sized amount of cotton or fiberfill material in the bottom of the cloth pocket. Add about 1/2 of your selected blend and place another small amount of cotton or fiberfill on top (this makes the pillow softer). Fold over the remaining open end and stitch shut. Place inside your pillow case and viola!

I was looking forward to trying the Sensual Dreams blend. Naughty me! :

Let us know how this turns out!
