Anyone know anything about Australian Laws?

I thought this was the best place to come to about this.

I'm looking to TTC later on this year, and I've looked for hours to see if I can find anything on the laws in Australia, but couldn't come up with anything.

My first option is to ship sperm from an international sperm bank, but I'm not sure if it's legal to do that here. Does anyone have any idea if it's legal, and/or any other laws regarding TTC in Aus?

I know loads about the Australian laws in general but not a lot about shipping international sperm. I do believe that it is possible for you to use int. sperm though but it is very very expensive.

I see you're in Tas. Have you spoken to any of the fertility clinics there? Though in low supply, you are allowed to access donor sperm in your State.

What else do you want to know?

Are there any specifics regarding age? Or whether your fertility is normal or not?

I've budgeted it out and I should be able to afford sperm from international banks, I've just been reading some things about how they won't ship anonymous sperm here. I might check some clinics out here.

Most fertility clinics have a rule about maximum age, though I'm not sure what that age is. I don't think your fertility is questioned though if you are single and/or a lesbian...

I know a melbourne dyke who conceived her baby through a clinic in Tas. She's 28, has a female partner and is fine in the fertility stakes.

In my state you can only access fertility treatment if you are deemed medically infertile (or you, as a hetero couple, in the case of MFI), regardless of sexuality/partners.

Sorry, are you in Tas? Did I give the wrong advice?

I'm in Vic and certainly here, for the time being (should be changing in the first half of this year), we can't access fertility treatment.

Nope, SA.

I do know a SMBC who did IVF in Vic, she was IF though, so the laws must be similar.

I was able to do IVF here, but I wish I didn't have to. 4yrs ttc, 2 surgeries, 2 IVFs is a sucky path to have to take.
