Got walmart toys for Christmas :( What to do?

My boys got toys from Walmart from their grandparent (dad's side) and I am really particular about what they play with, watch, listen to etc.. All of the toys were electronic, which I cannot stand! I have a wish list on Three Sisters and on Amazon, but haven't asked my husband to spread the word. He doesn't feel comfortable doing that kind of stuff. When it comes to my parents, I can just tell them what they need or what I would like them to have. It's pretty easy and there are never any hurt or hard feelings. A lot of times I prefer money if they don't know what to get them, and although it is nice and thoughtful of people to get them stuff, it would be so cool if they would ask.

Anyway, I'm going to be returning the stuff, and since I don't have a receipt, I'll have to get a gift card. What would YOU get for them instead at the dreaded Walmart? I was maybe thinking some art stuff. What else? There will be just a little over $100 on there and I've got to get stuff for the 3 boys ages 3, 4, and 5. If only they sold play silks and Spiel & Holz toys!

I would buy groceries at WalMart and then use the cash you'd normally spend on the groceries for toys from better stores, like Three Sisters.

Or you could sell the Wal Mart card online if you don't want to buy groceries there. (They do have a fair amount of organics now, though, so it may be worth it.)

I know how you feel by the way. We returned SO many toys this year. It's frustrating isn't it?

I would get new sheets, towels, glasses etc...house stuff.

I'm glad it worked out. Usually our Wal Mart will let us exchange anything they carry, receipt or not, for a gift card. Sometimes they even give us cash! I guess different locations vary in their policy... Or maybe they were just worried because you had so much stuff to return at once.
But who wants to go back for each individual item?

Chiming it a little late, but the few times we received walmart gifts, i returned them and used the credit to buy gas for the car.

I kind of figure that purchasing gas sucks wherever you do it, so this was a way that I could stomach the walmart thing a little better.
