I am having a hard time. I fear I may never see my beautiful bedroom rug again. Sigh, sob.

Today I boxed up my fabrics and started cleaning out my underwear drawer.

I also listed 3 new items on the TP. And started a another bag to give to charity.

Yesterday I began moving some of my art supplies to my new art studio. (My friend has an extra room and she is letting me use it for FREE!)

Does anyone else find that it gets worse before it gets better?

I'm joining in here because I am really struggling with my house right now, and my not-MIL is coming to visit next week, so things are going to have to get whipped into shape.

Took step one yesterday: took down and put away (in a labeled container, in the garage) all of the Christmas stuff.

Tonight I hope to get started on my horrible, horrible office.

I returned a MOUNTAIN of empty soda, beer, and juice cans/bottles. I've been meaning to do that forever.

I also rearranged the freezer closet, the coat closet and I'm almost ready to tackle the spare room closet. If I'm not back in 10 days...

Seriously, I'm starting to feel some weird emotions about myself and my home... could it be pride? calm? serene? ordered? The old "if I can do this, I can do ANYTHING" attitude.

Adtake, your desk area looks nice! I share mine with DH, so it's going to take some time to get him to focus on his half. My half does need some work, too.

Blooming, it definitely gets worse before it gets better! I get focused in on an area and get it all decluttered and neat, then I turn around and look at the mess behind me, lol. My soaring pride takes a brief dip. DH found the same to be true when he was working on a portion of the closet.

I don't have much to report today. I do have laundry and dishes going, but my back is hurting right now, so I'll do more later.

Today I cleaned out 2 kitchen drawers. They were jam packed with stuff. It was driving me crazy having to dig through all these utensils and gadgets that we never use, just to find the can opener.

So, I took everything out of the drawers and laid it all out on the counter tops. Cleaned the drawers themselves out. It's amazing how many tiny crumbs and stuff drop in there, but I never saw them cause there was always so much junk in there.

So, I sorted through everything and have a bag of kitchen utensils and gadgets for the next time I go to Goodwill.

Also, last night, I cleaned out my pantry.

today was a good day. I cleaned out the fridge / freezer ... vacuumed and washed the floors, cleaned out the junk drawer in the kitchen which is the worst drawer to clean. Put the self clean on -- so I clean the oven thoroughly tomorrow. DH cleaned the light fixture above the kitchen table. sorted through a few things in the garage.... and lastly of course I shined my sink (fly lady)

So here is my next space to attack!! The Dining Room....most of it just needs to go where it belongs, but I need to sweep and really clean the table and chairs. Need to make up my olive oil/lemon polish to polish with when I'm done cleaning it off. This room really is my 'best' decluttered space. There is really nothing in it I want to toss at this point. Most of the nick nacks are memory pieces from family. Unfortunatly it is a dumping space for just about everything


And here is the boys room. I have worked pretty hard at getting it straightened out. Tossed out about 200 things last week, could probably get rid of a few more...lol

This isn't really decluttering, but I went through my freezers, fridges and pantry and inventoried what we have. I think that we have enough food here to feed us for at least a month. We will need to buy milk, produce and cereal, but I am committed to not having my pantry and fridge stuffed. Thank you for starting this thread. I need some motivation to get some more decluttering done.

Cute room! You'll feel so good when the dresser arrives and you can put the clothes away.

I listed 5 items on craigslist last night. No bites yet...

ETA: I also put together a huge bag of hand-me-downs for a friend that is going to her tomorrow.

I'm still working on finding my rug. It does not help that I can do very little each day.

Today I cleaned my Oven, Stove Top & Microwave -- and I am really tired!! I also got up on a chair and dusted a few light fixtures and cleaned the front of a few kitchen cabinets.. and last night I tackled the dreadful kitchen "junk drawer"..

Does anyone out there feel that while they are concentrating on one area of the house the already cleaned area gets messy again !!

I got a lot done today, but not in the area of decluttering/organizing.
Here's what I did:

Spent time on computer
Helped ds send an email to his sister
kept up on the dishes
cleaned the bathroom
went to homeschool co-op with 4 youngest
swept kitchen
balanced check book

It seems like I did plenty, but I am not making any progress in the decluttering thing. I have a way of finding anything to do but decluttering. Any recovering procrastinators out there.

Blooming, I"m holding you accountable! How's the rug area coming along?

Jill, I am such a procrastinator! I also sometimes get so focused on one thing that I ignore everything else going on in general.

Right now, my dining room table is beautiful and shiny, but I'm about to clutter it all up again to sort things that are on the bar int he kitchen. My goal is to get it all sorted and looking clutter free tonight. I also have laundry to put away, though.

I've put away the laundry, dishes, and taken out the trash. I cleaned out my 'mailbox' (a container that I keep my stamps, blank cards, address labels, address book, pens, etc in.) I sorted some catalogs to be looked through and emailed one (so far) to get my name off of their mailing list.

I've managed to keep the table clear, but didn't finish the snackbar area. I think I need a little basket to catch all the smaller clutter that makes such a mess up there - cell phones, keys, change, rings, wallet, etc.

I did some major structural reorganizing. I cleaned out 3 closets and dumped out a ton of stuff. I filled up our garbage bin and 2 recycling bins. Plus I gave away a ton of stuff to goodwill. I got shelves for one closet - the one in the playroom - and now we have so much more storage in there.

I got one of those shoe cubby things and put it on top of a table we had in another part of the house. It looks nice up there, kind of like a desk/secretary thing, and I can organize my mail/paperwork/etc. in there. We've had it for about 2 weeks now and it still looks nice, I have tons of empty space in there. I got it at Target for $25.

Please do. The rug is getting there. It is now covered in garbage bags of stuff to go here and there. IT WILL BE DONE TOMORROW! and I will post a pic. really. no really. It is such a pretty rug I would like to see it again.
