I don't know if this is the appropriate place, but since this is the thread I'm primarily active on I just wanted to take a minute to say hello. I used to be active here years ago but life gave me other priorities (keeping up with the boards can be so time consuming). I'm currently stuck in bed with pneumonia and bored out of my mind so I thought this was a good time to reconnect.
You've probably noticed by now that I'm very opinionated and can be very terse. After years of trying to express myself, I came to believe that if I want to be heard I should just put my ideas out there and not be apologetic for my opinions. They are, after all, only opinions, and if I'm ashamed of them then I need to change. I've also come to realize that I'm wasting sometimes hours of my day carefully composing emails and replies when all that's really necessary is to just say it and move on. (My high school English teacher once assigned us an 800 word paper, which I was always good at. When we were ready to turn them in he said "now go through the paper and pare it down to 400 words without reducing the content". I ended up with a very concise paper that expressed exactly what I wanted to say in half the words. That lesson has always stuck with me.)
So I hope you won't take offense if I come across short and argumentative. I'm really a very sweet and gentle person.
