I am going back to work and looking to put my DS in daycare or hire a nanny who has a child. In both circumstances these children are bound to be vaxed. Do I need to worry about my DS having contact with a child that was recently vaxed?

Many people are more confident than I am
Most I wouldn't worry about. A few I would. For example I know a family who all got rotavirus after the baby was vaxed...

My dd is in daycare with vax'ed kids and I don't worry. The only one I would be wary of is rotavirus because, well, yuck. But the others I don't give a second thought.

yuck. rotavirus.
if the daycare has toddlers and no infants, though, you may not have to worry about the shedding rotavirus vax.
my bigger worry would be the food at a daycare. the snacks and meals that they give are usually pretty junky. as we all know the links between nutrition and immunity, if you have the ability to make sure to send non-sugary, non-starchy, nutrient dense foods (and pumped breastmilk) i would definitely do that. good food goes a long way towards overall health and immunity.
best of luck to you!

It's not something I ever worried about. Feed your child well, continue nursing/pumping if you're doing that.
In a daycare, most infant rooms are kept closed and the staff doesn't really circulate/take care of older children so you're probably ok there.
In-home daycare would be great in that you can hand-pick your care provider and have healthy snacks, etc.
I think you'll be ok. There'll probably be more runny noses/mild viruses as compared to staying at home, but that's it.

Thank you for all your replies!
I should have been a little more specific. My DS is 14 months old, and I am only considering daycares that do all organic foods, and I still may opt to send my own. He will only be there from 9-3, 3 days a week. I may or may not send him with pumped BM. I will see how it goes.
Good to know about rotavirus shedding. I will ask the DCP when I interview them what their policy is. I would like to be informed if a child was recently vaxed, but that may be asking too much.

Rotovirus is typically a big concern in daycares. The wild virus frequently circulates, so it's a concern whether the kids shed or not.
