flu vax and para-flu

I am wondering what para-flu is and if it can be a result of a flu shot. Our friends all got the flu shot, three days latter they all have para flu. Just wondering if it is a coincidence.

I also can't find what para-flu actually is. It is just a flu virus, right? Their ped told them it's not the flu, it's para flu.

Anyway, just wondering and hoping for some wisdom!

paraflu is Parainfluenza (or Human parainfluenza virus). There are four types of parainfluenza (paraflu) that are associated with croup, bronchitis/pneumonia, upper/lower respiratory tract infections.

Paraflu and "the flu" are not the same thing. However, if their symptoms are flu-like it would NOT be paraflu. Paraflu tends to be respiratory infections and DOES NOT show flu-like symptoms.

Okay, thanks, so they all have flu-like symptoms, but the little girl has croup, although the mom said she thought it was the flu.
