Dr. Sears Vax Book

Anyone know what it says? Or his viewpoint on vax? A gf of mine was wondering and I personally have no clue on his stance.

TIA!

I read it even though I already have my mind made up that I will not be vaccinating my children. I have to say that I am glad that I already had my mind made up because it seems pro-vax to me. His stance is that he believes that you should vaccinate, but on a delayed schedule and he tries to convince those no-vaxers to "at least give your kids said vaccines". There are alot of vaccines on this lists, in my opinion. Although I think the book is well written and there is alot of good info in there it is a bit scaremongering. Although I will keep it around for reference.

Oh, don't get me started!

It is NOT unbiased as advertised. He is very obviously pro-vax (which was disappointing). Many of his "numbers" are off, his stats were grouped strangely in some instances, poorly written/executed (and not just because I disagree with so much of it). (There are several other threads discussing this book on MDC if you search you'll find some more info),

IMO, it is a source (not necessarily a good one, but a "starter") for those families who've already decided that delaying/selective vaxxing is for them and have time to re-research his science. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it.

I am currently reading the book now. It is definitely a "starter" as a PP mentioned. IMO, it oversimplifies the issue of vaccinations. Any mention of adverse reactions are followed with "thankfully they are rare". There are anecdotal scary stories of patients with VPDs he shares with the reader in true pediatrician style. You might also read Aviva Jill Romm's book Vaccinations: A thoughtful parent's guide.

I plan to finish reading it and I'm trying really hard to keep an open mind. Thus far, it seems there is information that is missing from this book that is crucial for anyone trying to make a decision about vaccinations.

It's been pretty much torn apart here. From what posters said, it seems to have a lot of misinformation in it. Poorly researched and just spouting off some of the same old vaccine rhetorics.

He might be anti-vax for his own kids but suggests pretty much all of them in his book.

I agree with pp, if you really want an unbiased book about vaccine, Aviva Jill Romme's book is excellent.
