She doesn't expect me to bring my healthy baby in for a check. .....so if that is all you are wanting...someone just in case-who doesn't expect you to show up every month then Dr. Stowe is your doc.
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking...

thanks!

I had a similar experience with her also. We switched over to Dr. Stowe when my DD was 12 months. Took her in for a 12 month well baby and a 15 month visit at which Dr. Stowe flat out told us we didn't have to bring her in unless she was sick. We love her.

Is it actually hard to find a ped who CARES if you don't bring in a healthy baby with no known health problems who continues to have no health problems?

I came to this board in July searching for information on pediatricians after my then 15mo had an awful reaction (5 day 103+ fever) to the MMR vaccine. I had been very unhappy with the factory style care at Texas Children's Pediatrics, especially the misdiagnosis of perpetually swollen lymph nodes (since birth) as dermoid cysts, and the lack of concern at the MMR reaction was the last straw (Yes, I've been educating myself in the meantime on non/delayed vax issues). I"ve been meaning to return to thank the person that recommended Dr. Jeoffery Wolens at Vip Pediatrics (THANK YOU!!). On our first visit re: lymph nodes , we were admitted within 5 minutes and Dr. Woellens spent a full hour speaking with us about our concerns and and answering our questions. On our second visit, 18 month check-up, we were admitted within 5 minutes and he spent a full 45 minutes with us discussing milestones and answering questions/concerns. We declined he flu vacccine at that visit and he did not bat an eye. This was the closest to "concierge care" I could have hoped for with traditional insurance coverage.

Yesterday, Amaya was became very ill in the afternoon (vomiting and diarrhea) and we called at 3:45 and they advised us to bring her in ASAP. We were treated immediately upon arrival. While leaving the office, my DH nearly teared up b/c of the care and concern the doctor showed our daughter which was in direct contrast to what we had experienced in the past.

We have not personally dealt with some of the issues that may be important to you, but Dr. Wolens may be worthy of an interview.

Thanks again to the person(s) who recommended him. We are eternally grateful.

I'm in Katy (far West Houston). Are there any peds over here? We are having a girl so the circ. thing doesn't really apply to us. I just want someone who isn't going to harass us about vaxing. I'll listen to their spiel, but in the end they need to accept my decision.
