Please help me figure out my bobbin...

I'm a newbie and I'm sure someone will get a chuckle out of how stupid this question is, but, I cannot find the answer.

How do I know what *class* my bobbins are? :

I want to purchase additional bobbins for my machine as I only have two and they each have a lot of different color thread left in them. I cannot find anywhere in the manual or on the machine website what class they are. I've seen class 15 and 66 on packages at the store.

I have a Brother LS-1217 machine if anyone else has one and knows this.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

TIA :

what you are seeing by class 15 and 66 is a system of classification that was started with Singer machines, for their model 15 and model 66 but was used in many other of their machines (and maybe other brands??) http://ismacs.net/singer/bobbin.html

for your machine, I'm not for certain, do you have the manual it should say once youo get the number from your book you can can look here

http://www.brother-usa.com/Homesewin...ID=65&CatID=40

on the brother website and maybe find a dealer near you or the name/style to search for if you buy on-line.

Looking at the bobbin shown there, the SA155 and SA156 both 'look like' class 66 bobbins because the donut part is slightly beveled, but since they are different sizes in depth and they don't tell the diameter I would hate to tell you wrong.

Be sure to take one of your bobbins with you when you go look because you can hold it up to the package and see if it matches, if you do go to a regular sm shop, ask them if this type of bobbin is a regular class 66 bobbin, depending on the price they want for their bobbins, if the answer is yes you might go to another store and buy them cheaper.

What would I do without you?! Thanks so much for the links! I had been to the brotherusa site and could not, for some reason, find that information!

My manual says my bobbin is part no. X52800-150 and when I went to the store all I saw was the 15 and 66 class packages. I am going to call around to local dealers to see if I can get the correct one.

Thanks again,
