slippers from old sweaters?

Hello...

I made my kids some cute sweater pants using the sleeves of old sweaters. Now I am wondering what I can do with the rest of the sweaters. I thought it might be cute to make slippers to match. Anyone know if that is possible or how I would go about it? Thanks for the help!

Do you have pics/directions for the pants?

I saw some cute purses made from old sweaters at a craft show. I was thinking of making gloves/mittens from an accidently-felted sweater.

The idea:

I got a pattern at the fabric store and it included a shoe/slipper very similar in style to Robeez. Seems like you could use the sweater for fabric, sort of like the Polliwogs on hyenacart.

I think it could be rather easy. You could also use leather or vinyl for the bottom, tack it on after.

yay!

Thank you all so much! I'll be happily making slippers to warm my babes' toes.

I made these for a 9 month old...http://www.marthastewart.com/portal/...s&rsc=image_13

And the adult felt slippers posted above sized to fit a 3 year old. She loved them, but they were very slippery on wood flooring.

The felt came from two of my favorite sweaters that were put through two heavy-duty cycles in the washing machine.

I use my felted sweater scraps for slippers - I cut a leather sole piece for each slipper, minus the seam allowances, and sew that to the wool sole piece before I sew the slippers together. You don't ever want wool-bottomed slippers if you have hard floors in your house!

Other things I use scraps for:
Doll bodies
Mittens
Hats
Potholders
Doll Clothes (jackets, jammies)

or I cut it all up into strips and use the strips to stuff doll bodies and pillows and balls. I've also rolled the strips into balls to use as a base for felted yarn balls. Instead of yarn, though, you could always tack a layer of roving over the outside with a felting needle, and then tie it into a stocking & wet-felt it in the machine. Super easy, and you're using up scraps at the same time. This would be a good way to make some really BIG wool felt balls, without having to pay much of anything for supplies.
