Odd c-section question

Ok, I don't really know where to ask this, but I figured I'd give you ladies a shot. I've had two emergency c-sections (tranverse incision though) as well as an appendectomy. Thomas is almost a year and over the past few months, I've been having these tiny (like <1/4 inch) clear fibres (almost like fishing line or a stiff clear hair) come out of my skin. Two or three have been near the appendectomy scar and a couple more all on the lower belly.

What could these be? Weird hormonal hairs? Could they be surgical leftovers? (I don't even know if that's a remotely possible idea, so I apologise if that sounds stupid). Any ideas? The trouble is that it's kind of random and I know my family doc will just shrug her shoulders.

if your family doc just shruggs her shoulders over something thats bothering you, then you need a new doc!!!!
also. google morgellons, does it look like that?

could it be undissolved dissolvable stitches? Within weeks of my c-sec my body started rejecting them... poked through my skin and I pulled them out. They were clear, thin fishing wire looking.... I dunno.... sounds similar.

The same happened to me - definitely check things out with your OB and the surgeon who did your appendectomy.

Sounds like stitches. After my son had his appendectomy he ended up having pieces of stitching sticking out of his skin, including a knot. I had enough leeway to cut the knot off and the rest immediately retracted and were gone for good. Removed a few pieces of stitching after I had an episiotomy with my first as well plus something similar when my sister had a few dozen stitches put in after falling through a glass coffee table. Removed the outer layer myself and then just removed bits and pieces as they popped up over the next few wks.

I wouldn't google morgellons- that's not a real thing and it is scary to people to think they have it, when no one really has it.

I'd suspect either hair or undissolved sutures - some people don't dissolve them b/c their body walls it off. There can be funny hairs around scars b/c the incision sometimes cuts through the path of the hair.

Got a friend with a pair of tweezers? If it's hair, it'll come back in a few months. If it's suture, it should disappear after being pulled out.

Thanks - I'm glad to hear that it's a remote possibility that that's what it is. FYI, the appendectomy scar is from when I was 6, so I'm really thinking it's probably from the c-section.

Thanks again!
