Kiki's Delivery Service for a 5 year old?

I just borrowed Kiki's Delivery Service from my library. Dh and I saw Spirited Away a while back and really enjoyed it. I checked this one out thinking my 5 year old ds might like it. He is a bit sensitive, though. Anything scary? I don't think I'll get a chance to watch it before showing it to him.

Nah, Kiki's is great. My 4yo DD LOVES it. As do I. Spirited Away is a wonderful one, but she definitely needs us there with her to talk her through the scary parts. My Neighbor Totoro is good also, but the mother is sick in the hospital, so it might prompt some reassuring for a sensitive kiddo.

All of Miyazaki's movies are great. My Neighbor Totoro is a good one too.

My dd loves that movie. She saw it around that age.
I can't think of anything scary in it. There is a scene toward the end where a boy is hanging from a zeppelin and Kiki saves him.
No one gets hurt.

Kiki is GREAT and even very young kids can enjoy it.

Ditto what other posters commented. It's fairly innocuous. My Neighbor Totoro is even MORE geared towards littler kids.

We love Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro! I didn't realize Kiki's Delivery Service was the same creator. Off to go request it from the library. How fun!

Dd loves Kiki's Delivery Service and watched it when she was younger. It's pretty mild. The only thing she had questions about was "why is the little girl living and travelling alone without her mama?" etc. Adorable movie. They like Spirited Away as well.

Yup. My 3yo dd has watched all of the ones already mentioned, and The Cat Returns and Howl's Moving Castle. Her favorite by far is My Neighbor Totoro. She was Mae for Halloween, per her own request! No one knew who she was, but she was thrilled.
