Birthing Classes

We started ours last night - and I'm so happy. I love the women teaching it, and I think it will be really helpful. We basically went over the spectrum of what constitutes normal last night and did a few relaxation exercises - but it was so nice to be in a positive nurturing environment where our choices weren't questioned/ trashed.

Hope others are having similar experiences.

DH did say he felt pressure... like at the end the "final" was going to be that we had to deliver the baby and present it to the class.

Sounds great!

We're doing a one afternoon couples prenatal L&D yoga class. We did it before DD2 (DD1 was born on the day of the class, so we missed that class) and found it to be extremely useful. So we're doing it again!

we did our prenatal class last weekend. It was more of a refresher than anything because we had done the full weekend one the time before but it was really nice to have the time to focus on this baby and this labour and delivery (and for us to respectively think about our different positions this time since I'm birthing and Jes is helping as opposed to the other way around...

I'm so glad that everyone else is having positive experiences. I just wish I was, HA! I don't know. I am not exactly sure what I was expecting. I have been reading a lot of books and stuff, but I've never seen birth that wasn't the cats...can I just say that it looks like it hurts *grins*. And the first time I was there we watched a video of an 8lb baby with a *GIANT* head being born. Yeah. Kinda freaked me out a bit. I'm going to read my reading assignments and go back. Hopefully I'll get over some of my nervousness.

We've had one on the perineum and one on breastfeeding and there is the weekend birth class left, plus yoga and maybe another one, I'm not sure!

Our midwife is teaching them and the two so far have been excellent! A lot of great information and support. Gave us renewed confidence in our midwife too, she seems really wise.
