What is a good toliet bowl cleaner?

When we moved into our current duplex things were really hectic and I didn't get around to cleaning the toilet for about a month. I noticed that stains were building up but I assumed that they would go away once I got around to cleaning my toilet. Well, they didn't and won't go away. I have always used vinegar no problem.
Any suggestions?

Baking soda?

Or is it a build up type stain from hard water? I get that build up/hard water stain and for that, I have to use a pumice stone.

We have hard well water and I have found Ecover to be the best of the natural brands.

We use Ecos Brand Toilet Kleen in Cedar. It cleans the whole bathroom. And it smells good. Works great!

Borax and lemon juice.

The Borax should scrub that stain away. :

I LOVE this one: epic toilet scrub

I've ALWAYS gagged cleaning the toilet, but once I started using this stuff, I realized that I was gagging from the chemicals of all those cleaners! The bleach and whatnot. This one doesn't cause me to gag, really kicks butt at stains, and does much of the work without much work from me I can't say I LOVE cleaning the toilet, but this stuff took the 'hate' out of it! And it doesn't smell bad. Does a really nice job

Fun, sure! but it negates the effectiveness of both of them. When you mix them together you get carbondioxide and water (I think it might be another gass) so you don't have vinnigar or baking soda anymore.

For hard water stains, citric asid works great. You can get it at drug stores. I put a tablet in before bed and let it sit over night in the morning I scrub a bit and flush and my bowl sparkles.

It's a great cleaner, though! I haven't tried it on the toilet yet (that's today's project), but it did wonders for cleaning the oven. The mixture ate right through the baked-on mess in the oven.

: I have the powder version and I use probably a few tablespoons. It also helps to add extra water to the bowl itself before you add the CA if you're trying to get rid of a hard water ring

so help out a newbiew here...you just put in some borax or baking soda and scrub with a toilet brush, like you would with normal cleaner? how does the vinegar work? do you just pour some in and scrub? how much do you use?

Thanks!

i have read and had sucess with alka seltzer, which can also be recreated with baking soda and vinegar in the toilet, the foaming helps break up the stain.
