"Recycled" diapers

I've been playing around with making all sorts of diapers for my 8 month old for a while, but it was only recently that I went through the closet and recycled some old t-shirts. I made sure to check that everything I used was 100% cotton.

We've been cd'ing since ds was a few weeks old, so we have our wash routine pretty down pat. It's very rare that we get a stain on any of the commercial, wahm, or even self-made diapers, but these recycled t-shirts are just refusing to come clean like the rest of them! Any thoughts on why that might be?

How strange! I have no clue - I've never had that problem before!

We have lots of recycled T-shirt prefolds and don't have that problem either.

Did you strip the t-shirts before making them into diapers? Thats the only thing I can come up with.

Old fabric softener residue? i don't know how to strip it, though.

The stains should come out if you hang dry them in the sun a few times.

Hm. I didn't strip first. I guess I figured since I use the same detergent for everything... but I hadn't thought about build up. Sunning wound up working pretty well the other day. Just a few faint marks left!
I'll have to keep all that in mind next time. Thanks!
