Note to Beth--don't read this if it stresses you out! Most of these tasks are for ME to accomplish!

1) Deep clean: bathroom, kitchen, living room, baby room/study
2) Get rid of extra couch
3) Move all extra clothes, Christmas stuff etc. into storage
4)Get out the following from our friends' basement: bucket seat, baby clothes, bouncy chair.
5) Clean all the laundry in the house & put it away
6) Reorganize bedroom & set up sidecar crib
7) Purchase: snowsuit or warm seat cover for wee babe.
8) Clean Moses basket linen
9)Wash baby clothes & organize them
10) Set up change table with change pad, beautiful nb stash

Still not much completed to tick off, but I've done so much work I feel like I deserve another post. I've nearly completed one of the fabric basket liners (did I mention I suck at sewing?); I've finished sanding the chest of drawers, and done a fair amount of the windowsills. Today my little sister is coming over to help, and we'll prime the chest of drawers and (hopefully!) get the windowsills all sanded down, the walls and ceiling washed, the wallpaper stuck down as neatly as possible, and everything ready for painting. The paint arrives the next day--exciting!

Slowly starting to feel more ready. DD loving preschool is a BIG help! DW is 34.5 weeks...it's good to be feeling ready. Now I guess I'd better start getting work stuff organized so I'm ready to leave on March 20th!

The paint has arrived, the chest of drawers is primed (primered?), the walls are... half washed... and it's Saturday, so DH and I are about to get stuck in and do some major work. We need to basically clean and vacuum the whole baby's room, top to bottom, to get rid of all the dust from sanding; that includes shaking out the drop cloths and washing the ceiling to see if it needs painting or not. And then we have to cover all the edges with masking tape, to keep the paint job neat. *Then*, perhaps, we can finally start painting!

I finished painting the walls in the baby's room today! And the chest of drawers, too. Sadly the room still isn't 'done'--I need to primer and paint the windowsills and the wardrobe shelves, paint the ceiling, cornices and skirting boards. But it's still a tremendous relief to be finished with the walls.

I keep putting off sewing the fabric basket liners for the baskets to go on the wardrobe shelves. I'm no good at sewing, and it makes me stressed and nervy, so whenever I find myself with a few spare hours I cheat and head for the paint can again!

ETA: I finished one liner! Have filled the basket up with cloth nappies, which makes me feel fondly maternal and also disguises some of my many sewing flaws. I can't do the other liner until the basket dries--I painted it to match the walls 'cause it was a yucky greenish-brown cane colour.

Anyway, it's close to 11PM now, so I'd better go have a shower and attempt to scrape all the paint from my arms. I missed a bunch on Sunday, and looked pleasingly speckled--I was gonna pass it off as a pregnancy-related skin condition, but nobody asked.

Okay, I've done a bit of painting 'work' in the baby's room and living room--nothing major. Some wall washing, some masking tape, one coat of primer on the windowsills. And I'm halfway through another basket liner, 'cause I bought two more baskets yesterday.

I've just gotten home with some chocolate brown paint for the wardrobe shelves and more masking tape. The guy who served me at the hardware store was kind of odd... He said 'Do you need anything else? You've got rollers? Brushes? Motivation?' I laughed and said 'This is for the baby's room and it's due in six weeks, so yeah, I've got plenty of motivation'. Quoth he, 'Oh, you'll pile on the weight between now and then'. Why, thank you, kind sir. What the heck??

1. Buy diaper pins - Ordered Online. Should be here in two weeks.

2. MAKE AND FREEZE FOOD – Hasn't happened yet. Should happen this weekend since it's a three-day long one. Soups, stews, casseroles, healthy "cookies," pancakes and cornbread.

3. Make a LOT of cat food. I usually make a 6 week supply, I will shoot for at least two months this time. I think I will do that this weekend too, so it’s off of my mind. DONE! Our fridge freezer is full of catfood. I watched Terminator and Terminator II while grinding up hearts, livers, bones and muscles!! . The original is WAY better than the sequel...

4. Buy disposable incontinence pads for the birth. - Not yet.

5. Hand-write notices refusing eye-goop and Vitamin K shot. - Not yet.

6. Buy or make nursing pads. - In progress, I can finish these this week.

7. Hem blankets from flannel that Gramma sent (it’s so pretty!!) - Used some of it to make a leak-proof "bridge blanket" for our side-carred crib and bed. Looks really nice.

8. WASH all of the baby clothes and diapers I have, plus the handed-down afghan blanket. - Not yet. Probably this weekend when we do adult laundry.

9. Buy fitted crib sheets, wash them – wait until after the shower. - Done. They are on the crib. Made in Canada!

10. Buy mattress cover for crib - wait until after the shower. - Done. Got one for my shower.

11. Make “sidecar bridge” blanket for under baby and mommy to catch diaper spills and nursing leaks. - DONE. I could add a rainbow ribbon trim to it if I want to get fancy.

12. Buy a lot of baking soda, bulk, for washing diapers, buy extra laundry soap too . - Not yet.

13. Buy or make a “wet” diaper bag for walks and wanderings. - Not yet.

14. Stock-up on bulk staples. Flour, cornmeal, oatmeal, dry beans, sugar, lactation tea, canned tomatoes, potatoes, etc. - Not yet. Waiting until payday.

OMG! I forgot about the car seat. I think I will lose my mind....

We don't have a car, but I guess we should have one. - We are probably getting a two year old one from a friend this weekend.

Since we don't have a car, I'm not that worried about it, but I would like one on hand just in case we rent a car, borrow one of my sisters' cars or if we have to flee the city because it is being attacked by a large monster..... in that case I will probably duct tape the baby to my chest and opt for a motorcycle instead.... just checking to see if anyone is reading this part.....
