How does anybody get anything done??

Okay, reading through some of the postings and seeing all the stuff that some of you mamas are doing is making me wonder what the hell is wrong with me. I have a 4 yo and a 3 week old and I am lucky to get a shower everyday (its pretty much down to every other right now). I occasionally get laundry done and I pick up the house, but real cleaning is out of the question and dh has been heating up the freezer stash because I dont even have the drive to do that. I am finally starting to book today, which should be good. Honestly, most days the end of the day comes and I cannot believe how little I have accomplished but I make myself go to bed so that I can be awake for my kids the next day.
Please ladies - share your secrets with me, is it something you are eating or drinking? I must know.

ps...my secret? really? i don't mind sharing, but don't tell too many people...i don't want it to get back to my mother...or worse, my MIL!

okay, my secret is.....

wait for it.....

HAHA! So true.

For Collen though what works for me, I have a little night time routine to get kiddos to bed and the house playing condition for the next day. It also helps Tatum know it's time to unwind and we'll be putting on our jammies and going to bed soon.

Plop Kaleb in the moby or mei tei, watch some blues clues or tune into the music channels, run around making beds, picking up trash, putting dishes in the sink, dirty clothes in the dirty clothes pile, and put toys back in their normal place. And if I have enough energy after I'll vaccum. Then we (Tatum and I) either take a bath while Kaleb hangs out in the swing or we turn off all the lights and go snuggle in the family bed. I know why make the bed when I'm just going to get in a mess it up, I just like climbing into a neat bed. lol

We wait until DH is home to do laundry, and he also does the dishes for me and keeps the kitchen fairly clean. I hate dishes, I hate the kitchen.

As far as food, haha we've been getting meals from my Mops group so I haven't HAD to cook but I try to keep quick, good, and DH-proof things on hand like vegetarian chili and corn bread with a side of salad or some veggie burgers, with california style veggie and oven fries.

lmao at "really low standards."

I love it!!

I thought I was doing not so bad at keeping up, then Sofie got sick, now Avye is getting sick too (though she is fighting it) And well I'm not getting anything done! I mean nothing is getting done! I sit on my butt reading stories and wiping noses. I'm not even bothering with getting dressed or getting my kids dressed. I have a load of diapers that need to be washed, which will have to get done today, but that is the extent of what I'm doing today.

Anything done? Like when I did dishes the other night because dh's help post-hemorrhage that meant there was mold growing in my kitchen? It is a disaster zone here. But baby is gassy, colicky, and apparently allergic to milk like her big sis, so I am not only NOT sleeping, but even making a bowl of cereal is impossible. I am starving, I stink, my kids are bored out of their minds, but I'm too tired and busy bouncing the baby to do anything with them but watch TV between the screaming. Right now she is fussing, but dang it I just need to sit down. She's not crying, but it's a countdown, so I'm typing as fast as possible. Because this is the only "human" interaction I get right now besides wanting to screech at dh. /rant over

I just managed to eat some tiramisu that MIL brought over and catch up on MDC posts...does that count as getting stuff done?

For my 4 year old it's tv and the Leapster and it's killing me with guilt, but baby Fisher's tummy seems to be very sad the last 2 days so that's what we're doing.

I dont get anything done.

Taking 6 St Johns Worts a day is helping my energy though. (Or depression or whatever,)

Luckily my husband was a teenager when his brother was born, and then lived on his own for 10 years before we met, so he came equipped to take care of himself, and a few little people. He has been amazing, working and then coming home to a trashed house, a stircrazy toddler, a cranky wife and a screaming newborn, cleaning the house, making us food... I really don't give him enough credit - I think I'll keep him.

I usually just hole up in our craft room if we are getting antsy, since there is a tv in there for the toddler, a sewing machine for me, and I can stick baby in the sling and count the minutes until DH gets home. So any crafty things I get done are in an attempt to save my sanity. :P

Get anything done? I am in the really low standards club.

My baby is fussy, and hates being put down. I've managed to be able to get him in a bassinet for about 2 hours in the morning where I do dishes and pick up the living room. The rest of the day is spent dealing with a fussy baby and watching Lifetime. I also go on MDC but can't deal with baby and type at the same time.

DP comes home at lunch time and that's when I take a shower. In the evenings I sleep-so that I can get up every 2-3 hours to feed and change diapers at night. DP is back at work-so I get the night shift (lucky me!).

Also here's a confession-we have cloth diapers that we fully intend to use-really cute ones. However we have not gotten around to doing our own laundry. We were given disposables as gifts-so the free 'sposies are getting us by. If I get some sleep soon-I'll do some laundry and then break out the cloth diapers!

I want to know how you guys even have time to read & post on MDC! I miss you all so much! I just don't see myself getting much mdc time anymore, I'm too busy just trying to get a shower or changing a diaper (etc etc etc etc! lol) to get to socialize! I've barely been around & am SO far behind. I feel like a sucktastic ddc member. But DUDE, I can't believe how challenging & time consuming it is to have kids 25 mos apart, plus my other kids, animals, baking, housekeeping, etc. And we're still on our extended Christmas break from homeschooling! We start up again on Monday. That will be crazy. I can't imagine how I'll ever have computer time at all.

I am loving this time though, & savoring my teeny tiny newborn who I know will grow into a crazy acting toddler in the blink of an eye.

But I do miss you!

Frenchie, I DO drink a lot of coffee. :
