Classical Music Mamas - Name that tune.

I have a violin concerto stuck in my head.

Here's the theme - all within an octive and in C. Let's see if I can communicate this w/o staff...

~l~~~~~~D~~l~~~~~~~D~~l~~~~~~l~~~~~~~~
~l~~~~B~~~~l~~~~~B~~~Cl~~B~~~l~~~~~~~~A
Gl~~~G~~~~Gl~~G~~~~~~~lA~~~~Al~~~~~G~~~
~l~~~~~~~~~l~~~~~~~~~~l~~~~~~lF#F#~~~~~
~lD~~~~~~~~lD~~~~~~~~~l~~~D~~l~~~~~~~~~

That was awful, but the search engine doesn't like spaces and now I have too much invested in this so I'm going to stop. If you figure it out you get The Prize.

I have no idea--never learned how to read music, wouldn't know the answer even if I had. But to you and anyone reading who may be able to decipher that, I say...

Wow. I'm pretty sure that's my all time worst post. I'm so ashamed. (Where's that French shrimp icon?)

How about this:
Bam bam ba ba ba Bam bam ba ba ba Ba baaaa ba baaa ba ba ba ba baaa.

The italics fall on the beat I think.
In any case that was completely useless too.

DD thinks it's Mozart. I wanna say Bruch, but that's sticking my neck way out there.

Thank the good lord (and her monks) for staff paper. I'll never take it for granted again.

Meanwhile I'm gonna search my media files for the answer. I must know....again.

Beethoven.

Attempts at conveying classical music via discussion forums should be against the UA.

And now I'm going to finish listening to this amazing concerto. Gosh, I should look for an upcoming performance of this.

(And thanks for the bow Valkyrie9. Way too generous of you. That was horrible.)

This may be the goofiest thread of all time.

Can you somehow post an audio clip?

Since you mention Bruch, could it be:

Max Bruch Violin concerto No. 1 in G minor, Op. 26

Scroll down and you can hear a clip of each movement.

Is it Aaron Copland's The Gift To Be Simple? He composed it using an Quaker hymn as the base...

Yes, I figured out that I had it in the wrong key after I listened. Oops. I had transposed it when I plunked it out on the piano just to get the tune right. I thought that if a musican took that to a piano they'd hear it and be able to figure it out, even without the rhythm/meter markings. It's such a catchy melody.

I wasn't sure how to get an audio file linked but the amazon idea is a good one. So here it is. Third movement.

I looked for a local-ish performance but couldn't find one....a drawback of not living near a large metropolitan area. Ah, well. Will make do with digital.
