XPost from DDC - probiotics and GBS

With my last pg my midwife put me on a probiotic rather than testing for GBS - she said whenever she's had to transport, the hospitals have considered the probiotic sufficient and don't put you on antibiotics. But now I don't remember what probiotic it was, or when I started it. I -think- it was somewhere around 30-32 weeks? I'm not positive, tho. And I just gave all of my records to my new mw so I can't check (at least, not right now). Any ideas? TIA!

I have never heard of a hospital accepting probiotic use over not testing for GBS-- live culture lactobacillus-- and greater colonies of H2O2 forming lactobacillus do lower GBS colonization rates- as for brands-- if you are not sensitive to milk then using yogurt both for eating and direct application would be best- a brand out here Nancy's is a good/reliable one-- also other live culture foods-- there is a cook book called Wild Fermentation that gives you some ways to add live culture foods into your life-- as for lactobacillus brands the strain of lactobacillus that the California sour dough has- L reuteri seems to be able to survive being capped up and then grow- so you can eat SF sourdough or buy caps with that in it--

you can buy reuteri online at The Vitamin Shoppe, I believe Nature Made makes it...or is it Nature's Way? I always get the two mixed up. GAH! Anyway, you can find it online.
