Question about natural progesterone.

I looked at 3 different brands in my local health food store and they all said do not use if pregnant, lactating, or intending to be pregnant.

Do you have to get special progesterone cream if you are pregnant or trying to conceive?

There are actually a huge number of natural products which have that same warning. I think you can ignore it--it is put there to cover their butts in a lawsuit, not really because it's dangerous.

However, you might want to google 'natural progesterone' and 'wild yam'. I recently did this, when a client of mine told me she was using just such a natural progesterone product. I think the research shows that wild yam really is NOT a form of progesterone/pre-progesterone (tho it is a good 'woman's herb' in other ways)....AND, if there is any progesterone in the product, it is simply synthesized and it's the same stuff you can buy at the pharmacy cheaper and without the fancy schmancy bs 'natural' labelling. This synthetic progesterone will NOT be on the label, since FDA rules dictate that only a formula containing more than 3% (of anything) has to state it on the label.

I called and emailed a company called AIM (which is what my client was using), to ask about this. They refused to talk to me, when I asked if their product did indeed contain 3% or less of pharmaceutical progesterone....not a good sign!

I am all for using herbs/natural products. And I simply despise the phoney hype that has become associated with this 'fashion' of 'natural'--natural, schmatural--it is still a capitalist world, so 'let the buyer beware' :
