Postpartum certification costs

I am planning on taking the DONA Postpartum Doula workshop. The cost is $325 for a last minute registration.

I ran across a website for Maternity Wise saying this:

http://www.maternitywise.com/becomedoulatraining.html

Quote:
Your Total Cost of MaternityWise Postpartum Doula Certification is only $420 (not taking into account all the discounts you may qualify for) as opposed to other organizations charging over $700.
What organizations charge over $700? Are there a bunch of hidden costs with DONA that I'm not aware of?

Well, let's see. The requirements....

Workshop: $325 (what you said yours was)
Membership to DONA: $45 (1 yr)
Lactation course: $39 (for the basics required by DONA)
Certification packet: $35 (if you’re a member)
CPR certification: about $50 (it depends on the class)
Certification processing fee: $70

I get roughly $550-575 adding all of that. I have no idea how much CAPPA charges, though.

Books can cost quite a bit too if you plan on buying and keeping them. Not sure if they are including that though.

The PP workshop that came through here was $450 so I can see where all that other stuff would add up...
