doing the "milk cure" with a mild dairy intolerance?

I'm seriously considering doing the milk cure diet (or a slightly modified version of it) to try to clear up the digestive issues I have that won't resolve no matter what I do. The problem is that I'm mildly intolerant to dairy--it gives me a slightly runny nose and I get mildly constipated if I eat much of it. I've read so many stories of people healing while doing the milk cure, thought, that I'm wondering if I just did it if maybe the intolerance issues would resolve themselves, or the benefits would outweigh the reactions. Avoiding dairy certainly didn't do anything...six months of being almost entirely off dairy (cheated every once in a while) and then 14 months of being completely off dairy due to DD's reactions to it didn't change my reactions to dairy at all.

So would this be a bad idea? Has anyone tried this, or heard of someone trying it with a mild dairy intolerance?

Well, do you have these symptoms on RAW dairy, or just with pasteurized dairy?

FWIW, I once got tested for allergies and came back mildly allergic to dairy (although I never had any noticeable symptoms) and I did the raw milk cure for a month. Felt great on it. Must admit that I cheated and ate some fresh fruit every day though. It was summertime and fruit was in season - yum!!

In that case, no wisdom here. I guess you could try it and stop if the symptoms bother you too much.

Have you tried goat milk? I react to cow, but do fine on goat milk.

I don't know anything about the milk cure diet but if you are dairy intolerant and you want to experiment and reintroduce, do it with cultured dairy like yogurt, kefir and some hard cheese. It is safer and you may find that you don't react at all. This is what happened to me after a long abstinence of dairy. I was able to consume small amounts of cultured dairy without consequence while benefiting from it. This is raw dairy.

My mom swears that Swedish Bitters are what have worked for her and I am about to try it (I too have a slight problem with even raw dairy). I'm not attempting the milk diet, but will try to go back to 16-24 ounces a day of milk with the bitters( which generally gives me serious gas!) I'll try to report back after a week or two (will start on Thursday).

You could always try a milk cure with breastmilk.
It would probably truly heal you. Know any breastfeeding moms?

How do you take Swedish bitters? (how much and when)


Caedmyn--I would try it out with raw 24 hour+ fermented dairy and see how it goes for a few days and just quit if it seems to be bothering you.
