I just want to tell you guys how pleased I was by today's experience at BRU in Oxnard...
SOOO I went to exchange a gift given to us by the Navy (DH is Navy) this Christmas -- it was for our latest and greatest baby Dash born Dec. 11. It was a crib mobile, and they have NO IDEA that we are AP parents who co-sleep/breastfeed. Anyway it was from the new FP Rain Forest line of products and even had a remote etc. Long story short I found out you could buy Bumkin diaper wraps on-line through BRU so I went to exchange this very nice present worth approx $40 for something we actually NEED.
At first the cashier was saying no, I couldn't return it as it wasn't on my registry, as I try to explain "no seriously, this is the NAVY, they have no idea, so should I go home, put it on my registry via internet, take ALL FOUR KIDS back out again to return it? Or do you just want to call..." and before I could finish saying "call your manager" she had called him...but a HER approached instead, took a look at the situation and approved THE RETURM before I said ANYTHING to her.
Meanwhile baby Dash-bo-bo starts fussing in his wrap, so I start "adjusting" to feed him, saying "excuse me a moment while I..." (apologizing for stopping the exchange while I prepared to nurse while corralling two-yo, over my over-all's yet in the wrap) and the manager says --
"OH NOOOO you go ahead and feed your baby with no worries, embaressment or fear here, you can feed your baby anywhere or anyhow you want to -- as long as it's BREASTMILK -- WHICH IS THE VERY BEST FOOD FOR YOUR BABY -- YOU ARE WELCOME TO FEED HERE!! You are in a baby store after-all!!!"
Geeeeeeeet OUT!
I KNOW, but WOW! (You do know you guys sell a lot of formula right?)
Anyway we had a nice exchange going after that, even including my saying that I appreciate her PRO-breastfeeding response and that I DO know I can feed my bo-bo's anywhere I want in CA, but it's nice to be given the super big kudos to do it in HER store!

Isn't it funny that my older kids were so into the mother's nursing room though? LOL They used the glider, tried to look at the parenting mags left out, etc. They found it by using the restrooms next door -- but I had to laugh. Here MY kids are the only people in the store asking my to use the mother's room because they thought it was cool! Me...I just wanted to get the shopping over with! Haha!
I got my wraps by the way -- AND BRU's brand minime has kimono long-sleeve baby tee's! (They go great with wool longies!)
