Crockpot size ? (simple question I think)

I asked for a 4 quart crockpot for Christmas and my mom couldn't find one so bought a 6 quart. Can I use it for a young kiddo (4 years old) family of four or should I try to trade it in for a smaller one?

Keep it, you can use it in smaller quantities and you can also make nice big batches of broth and beans etc. in it to feed the freezer with portions of easy-to-prep TF foods. I have a big one too and it cooks smaller amounts a little faster than recipes for larger quantities indicate, so just watch for that.

I have a six quart and a small family and occasionally it comes in really handy, if I am having a big party or want to make a mega-batch of chili to freeze or whatever. It works fine for smaller meals too.

ETA: I did just get a small one (1.5 quart) for dips or desserts, although I haven't gotten into that realm yet.

Can cook a lot of beans in that size crockpot. Also, fits a big roast!

I have 7 crockpots!!!! 4 2 qts (I had 2, dh had 2 when we got married) a 5qt, a 6qt and one of the 1.5 qt ones for dips. I use the 2qt ones for infusing oils, making small batches of soups/chilis and the bigger ones for chickens, roasts, soups and other good things!

Ok... I am addicted to my crockpots!!

Family of 4 here, too with a 6quart crock pot. Love it- wouldn't ever go smaller.

I have a new 6 qt Hamilton Beach and it was an adjustment from my smaller crockpot but I like it a lot! It says that you shouldn't fill it more than 2/3 full (I think) and I remember cramming stuff into my crockpot. So I was probably overfilling it.
