Military Mommys?

Are there any Military Mommy's that have gone through a deployment that have any advice/encouraging words for me?

My DH was not able to be there for the birth and won't get to see my DS until he's already 5 months and then not again until he's 14 months...

I just got back from Korea (not a combat deployment, but still a 1-year hardship--read unaccompanied--tour) last week. DH did a good job taking care of the kids and they recognized me when I got off the plane. Also, I don't get the feeling that I'm "interrupting" their "way of doing things"--we reintegrated pretty easily.

And a few years ago, we had the reverse--DH deployed during the invasion and our son was born then. He came home after 7 months to a 4 month old and got out of the Army.

Aww I'm glad the recognized you

How did daddy adjust to the new addition?

He adjusted pretty well. Too bad he does not want more kids--we have never spent an entire pregnancy together (missed the 1st half of our daughter and the second of our son). However, a homebirth may not be an option--tricare may not cover it for active duty mommas--they have priority at the Military Treatment Facility (hospital). Of course they will not transfer a spouse who is already there in labor unless there is a medical need--and my supervisors can actually ORDER me to utilize the hospital (and punish me if I don't, even if everything goes hunky-dory)...

NAK...

It's rough. I was 5 months pregnant when Dh deployed. He wasn't there for the birth, had R&R a month later then was home for good when ds#2 was 8 month old and ds#1 was 2 1/2.

I guess the best thing about it is having a little one keeps you busy.

Have you seen daddydolls.com? I think it's a great idea for the little ones.
