I need to start a gut healing diet, but am having trouble deciding which one to choose. Right now it's between Breaking the Vicious Cycle, Eat Fat Lose Fat, and Gut and Psychology Syndrome. We are gluten free and dairy free right now. I know that gluten is a problem, but just recently eliminated dairy. I want to be as TF as possible because I am also trying to heal Adrenal Fatigue. Any help you guys can give is appreciated.

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

i got gut and psycology syndrome first before i got breaking the viscious cycle. (don't have the eat fat loose fat one - yet!). i think the gut and pyscology one is better than btvc, but i do refer to btvc aswell. the GAPS one refers lots to btvc because she has based her diet around the scd which is btvc. GAPS is great because is really is very traditional food based, also it is a great read and she explains so much about how the health of the gut affects everything. i would go for that one first.

That's the one I was leaning towards. I want the Eat Fat, Lose Fat more for my husband than myself, but I can only afford one right now.

I like Gut and Psychology Syndrome better than Breaking the Vicious Cycle. It is much more amenable to TF principles in the use of things like lacto fermented foods.
Myself, I am planning to order adrenal tests and use Julia Ross' adrenal fatigue suggestions combined with Dr. Cowan's suggestions for boosting thyroid if necessary.

i've just remembered that it was actually doing 'gut and pyscology syndrome' that led me to find out more about traditional foods! i didn't even 'know' about this site until i told a friend what i was eating and she said that i'm eating TF and recomended this forum. so it was actually that book that led me to finding this community and learning even more about TF! so yes it is totally TF friendly. i also know that dr campbell mcbride recomends other TF foods that she dosn't write about in the book because a friend of mine had a phone consultation with her, and also she dosn't always stick totally to scd when treating individuals. one thing that put me off breaking vicious cycle was that it says that using an artificial sweetner is ok (i don't know about sweetners i think it is saccarin) i can't see how that can be healthy to anyone even if they don't have gut problems, so i was disheartened by that.

I know what you are saying, but I think it's important to realize that Elaine wasn't advocating it's usage, simply saying that it wasn't going to feed the yeast. I was thrown by that as well. I realized though that there are people who need the diet who would want that information. Take what you need, leave what you don't-KWIM?
That said I think that GAPS is a better first choice. I'm not in love with EFLF-the information in it wasn't news to anyone on a TF diet. Fat is good. Eat lots of it, lose weight.
That's it, I'm writin' a book
Seriously though...I bet you could find that one at the library.
My vote is for GAPS.
