Yay, Family Guy knows breasts are for feeding babies!

Does anyone watch this show? Tonight's episode had Stewie, the baby, pretend he was a high schooler to prove to Brian the dog he could be the most popular kid in school. So Stewie is on a "date" with the popular girl and they are sitting in a car, presumably to make etc. So, she takes off her shirt and Stewie says "no thanks, I'm full!"

PS If you don't watch the show this won't make any sense b/c the baby and the dog both talk and act like adults!

Yeah Family Guy is weird in that respect... they often feature breastfeeding but one episode that kind of ticked me off Peter took this voodoo skull or something and put it up to Bryan (the dog) and said something along the lines of, You want to breastfeed the skull? and started mimicing breastfeeding on Bryan and then said "Oh look I'm breastfeeding in public even though its wrong." So, pretty offensive but I don't know what to think because they show Stewie breastfeeding in more than one episode...

See, I don't find that offensive at all. Peter, in the context of the show, is consistently being ignorant, he is often voicing that which is wrongly narrow minded and stupid. So the overall message that the show is conveying is the belief that "breastfeeding in public is offensive" IS what's ignorant. Basically, the show is making fun of people who believe that and illustrating the absurdity of that belief.

Yeah that! If you watch the show enough you know that Peter saying that was lactivism. He is always saying offensive, ignorant things, because he is really ignorant and naive.

I didn't see the episode the OP was talking about (I missed TV last night, too busy) I assume it was new.

The best one yet is the one where Lois tried to wean Stewie because he was getting teeth and kept biting her. It opens with him coming up to her and saying "Open your shirt woman, I'm hungry." Anyway, he goes on to be like a junkie trying to get off smack and does anything he can to get breastmilk. He actually attacks a nursing mom in the park, and sneaks into Lois' room with a breast pump at night. Then finally when he has kicked the habit she tells him that she changed her mind because she missed the bonding of breastfeeding. He tries to resist but gives into the stuff. You can just tell by the way he is drawn while nursing that either the writers or the illustrators know what a breastfeeding baby looks like.

Oh, and there is also another one there where Stewie was having a "sexy party" and he sang this song about "Welcome to my sexy party, have a breastmilk with a dash of bacardi." DH had that as his cell phone ring tone for a while.

I have seen this clip on You Tube, and it's fantastic. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. I showed the clip to my 4 y/o daughter, and she said, "Wow, Mom. He really knows how to eat!!!!!"

I saw that, my husband and I both about died laughing! Hilarious! Awesome I love the episode where Stewie is so desperate for breastmilk he sneaks into Lois's room in the middle of the night and pumps her breasts.

The show's creator, Seth McFarlane, has another adult-cartoon called American Dad and I think it was last week's show that had a line about vaccinations causing harm to children. Mine and my husband's jaws both hit the floor when we heard the reference. It was in a joke, but hopefully that makes some of the more mainstream people out there stop and say huh? maybe I should figure out what that means. No breastfeeding in that show, the two children are teenagers.

Yeah, I've been meaning to say something about that here.

The son, gah, what's his name--Steve? Anyway, he'd taken to being a "background dancer" in the show and at the end the dad said, "We really should have spaced out your vaccinations." I couldn't believe it either!

And there has been reference to bf on American Dad, in the form of a wetnurse

Sorry to hijack, FG is great

I'm glad so many of us watch Family Guy. I was a little worried it might have been an offensive show to some! That's great they had so many pro-breastfeeding episodes. I don't even remember the one with Stewie sneaking in to pump Lois' breasts. That's hilarious! I'll have to look up American Dad to find that vaccine episode.

Oh man, that one always gets me rolling! The sweet little sleepy nursing, the "suck suck. what?" movement, the hairy nipple, the lip quiver... It's all too perfect!

I've never watched the American Dad show until the other night and i saw that exact episode! I kinda had to do a double take....i thought "did he really say that!?" I also used to have the episode of Stewie trying to wean on my Myspace. good stuff...my YDS, Reid, kinda reminds me of Stewie!

anyone know where to find these episodes (or clips) online?

I love it! Right on! (Stewie is the nickname for our little fetus until it's born thanks to my DSS8.)

Also, note that Stewie often wears an uncovered prefold diaper, with pins and all.

There was also afamily guy episode where Stewie has a vaccine reaction. It's very psycadellic (sp?)

We love Family Guy. It is offensive, but that's how we like our television/movie humor.

My husband and I both had a good laugh last night when we watched that episode (we DVR'd it) with the "No thanks, I'm full" line. Albeit a quiet laugh, as our little one was nursing himself to sleep as we watched it...

ETA: And we always tease that DS is going to turn out to be "a Stewie". Out to take over the world and all...
