Yeah, that's actually a joke. I love Family Guy. I also saw the one where the dad breastfeeds Stewie. It is hilarious. The lip quaver and gag when he finds the hair- hah!

I'm more of a lurker than a poster around here, and I surfed all around the day after the vax comment on American Dad - I thought for sure it'd be mentioned before now! I did a double take at it too, so funny! I also caught the Family Guy "no thanks, I'm full" - I retold the whole thing to Dh, who missed it, and he even thought it was funny in the retelling! Makes me like the shows all the more - they're sort of a guilty pleasure for me and these things give me more of an excuse to watch!

Oh, and Stewie attacking the nursing mom at the park, sneaking into Lois's room at night with the breast pump, and Peter nursing Stewie are all classic moments! I also remember Lois wearing Stewie (in a bjorn type carrier, I think) in an episode (I think they're at a pool?).

We ADRORE Family Guy and have most of the episodes on DVD. Our 17 month old will run up to the entertainment center, point to the Family Guy DVD shelf, and yell, "GUY! GUY!" until you play one for him. Then he dances wildly to the music at the beginning of the episode, and sometimes gets up close and pats the screen when Stewie comes on.

His favorite episode is the one where Chris sings "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go" while cavorting with New Guinea tribesmen.

See, I don't find that offensive at all. Peter, in the context of the show, is consistently being ignorant, he is often voicing that which is wrongly narrow minded and stupid. So the overall message that the show is conveying is the belief that "breastfeeding in public is offensive" IS what's ignorant. Basically, the show is making fun of people who believe that and illustrating the absurdity of that belief.

That's how I understood it, too, and I laughed my butt off.

My dh loves this show!! He and I were just talking about how there is pro breastfeeding parts on this show.....Has anyone brought up the show where Lois wants to stop breastfeeding b/c Stewie is always biting her?

The episode where Peter nurses Stewie was on last night. I had just woke up with the baby and we were having a hard time latching, so I sat up and turned on Family Guy. I had all four kids in bed and for some reason they were all up. So they saw that part (not that Family Guy is great for 8yo's, but hey...I do what I gotta do!) and we were all laughing so hard. I had tears coming out of my eyes.

That was a great family moment, I gotta say! Thanks Family Guy! Oh yeah and Stewie had a cloth diaper on in the episode too.
