Progesterone Thoughts Please?!

I hope I'm posting this in the right area - but need some help. I was reading in my TCOYF book tonight reading up on a few things - and it talked about progesterone. I'm in a predicamint and have an appointment in the A.M. - HELP!

I got 5,000 HCG today (big dose)

I have 2 BIG eggs (19/20) and a few small eggs (do not know their measurements)

The doctor is putting me on progesterone starting tomorrow (insem day) but after having read in this book - if I start taking the progesterone maybe the big eggs won't release (and/or won't HAVE released) so our thoughts are holding off one day on the progesterone.

Any advice? This insem tomorrow is all the doctor will do - no ultrasound to see if I've ovulated and/or no more sperm for another insemination.

We're really thinking of just holding off on the progresterone for one day.......oh but then we'll question ourselves like crazy if it doesn't work out.

Anyone to help and/or give input would be appreciated.

Hey Randi-

We are starting our 4th cycle and we do Clomid with the HCG shot and the progesterone suppositories. We have always been told to start them the day after our last IUI.

I had the blood work done and a progesterone test before we started all this, so I don't feel like one day will make a huge difference. I also get af back after being off of the suppositories for 1 day.

My clinic's protocol is to start prometrium 3 days after the last IUI. It makes sense to me... in a normal cycle progesterone levels are supposed to peak at maybe day 10?--so they're not at one high level immediately following ovulation. I would think it'd be no problem to wait a day or two to start. If you temp, you could start the day of or after the thermal shift.

HcG is a trigger for ovulation

the HcG shot is a trigger shot to ensure that you ovulate... so, within 24 hours of that shot, you should already have ovulated, therefore the progesterone shouldn't prevent that.
