Why do babies shake off or shiver?

Thread Starter
Asked the Dr at DD's last visit and she said that it is normal and all babies do it (im a first time mom But she couldnt explain to me why. I asked her because i thought it might be a reflux thing or something bothering her.

So anyone know why babies do this?

If you dont know what Im talking about DD will shake off like dogs do after a bath. It looks like she got a shiver or something.

Gianna does this after she pees. Or, if she's in the bathroom when I pee, she shivers then, too!

Hi Clara

Yeah, I think it's a pee thing. My 3 year old still does it sometimes.

My baby just did this right before I opened this forum!

Perfect timing.

My mother has said the same thing- they do it when they pee. How funny!

yep. pee pee.

this is what helped me to ec dd in the early days, because as i watched her i noticed that she would get a particular look on her face right before she peed and shimmied. then i started putting her on the potty when i saw her with "the pee pee face", and voila...a catch!

Lol I saw the title and I said, "the pee shiver!". Yup, that's why. It helped us in EC too. Now he'll do a poop shiver as well sometimes. Why? No idea, but it's sure helpful!

hm, never with pee, occasionally while going to sleep. i heard it was a sign of neurological maturity, like how we sometimes twitch before sleep??
