I just had the coolest, clever idea!

So I am a bit crafty, and I have an embroidery machine. Here's my idea: take the state law and embroider it onto a wrap or sling, and/or diaper bag! Or rather embroider it onto a matching fabric and sew it on. Can you imagine seeing a woman with a baby in a moby with the following covering the cute baby butt?

Cal. Civil Code § 43.3 (1997) allows a mother to breastfeed her child in any location, public or private, except the private home or residence of another, where the mother and the child are otherwise authorized to be present. (AB 157)

Learn to embroider AND find the law?? LOL you find the law I'll embroider it onto fabric FOR you! :

If not you'll be done breastfeeding by the time it all comes together...hee hee.

Listen to me -- here I dont even have the machine hooked up to a computer in this house yet. :

That would be sweet. And it'd give the folks around here a pause. It's sad, I've gotten snooty looks from people when I NIP but it's normally people w/kids. It's all the older folks or single folks that are all smiles.

I have noticed this too!

What is WITH THAT?

Older people in church don't even pause when they notice I am breastfeeding. Like they'll move my sling to see the baby, catch sight of what he's doing and just cover me back up gently and go on about how beautiful he is.

But people with kids in the gym are shooting me looks. Hello! It's all moms and kids, who CARES!?!

That is a good idea!

Now if only PA's law was worth all the effort to put it onto something, maybe then...

Good luck!

I thought I was crazy for noticing that trend! Good to know I'm not the only one. It's enough to make me want to beat my head into a wall. I've always done my level best to be discrete because my husband isn't comfy with people possibly seeing my boobs while I'm nursing our baby. I roll my eyes about it but since he's my hubby, I respect what he thinks and stay pretty covered. You could see maybe a sliver of my boob, and not even any of the good parts when I nurse.

One mom actually yanked her kid along while I was NIP at a Walmart, saying that it was disgusting 'cause the little girl was curious what I was doing. Ick. Her ignorance was far more disgusting IMHO.

Back to the OP, this is such a cool idea!! Are you really going to do it? Maybe you can just embroider it on to cool fabric and we can sew it on to our stuff. If you do this I want to buy one'?
What a neat idea. I can't embroider anything (I'm doing good to sew on a button). I'll have to settle for carrying the state law on a little card in my wallet.

I'll buy a piece of fabric with Ohio's law!! What a genius idea!! Or, imagine if like, babyhawk sold bh's with the state law? How cool would that be!!

Oh wait wait wait -- even more inspiration!

What if the state law was embroidered onto fabric cut in the shape of the STATE??? Yeah! I got something here...

i'd buy one for the state of New Mexico. Could it be cranberry colored like my ergo. I will put it on the diaper bag.
What a great idea.

There is no law providing women with specific protection for breastfeeding in public in New Zealand, though recently (last year during World Breastfeeding Week) the Health Select Committee recommended that the law be changed. But the government decided to ignore the recommendation. The only protection is under discrimination on the basis of sex in the Human Rights Act.
