I read this earlier when I was getting the munchkins ready for bed. All the blood literally fell out of my face, it was such a shock. Shannon was such a witty, funny, smart lady. She will be very missed.

I'm still just so shocked. It hurts inside. I only knew Shannon on the Pets forum, where she was the resident expert. I remember her posting once that I was her favorite 'convert'. I first came to the Pets forum talking up Science Diet (which is all I learned about in vet tech school), and she challenged me to think differently about animal nutrition. Eventually I even got to the point I was feeding my dog whole rabbits and my cats whole rats. I think I made her proud. She had to put me in my place once or twice when I'd start talking about something I didn't quite understand, but I was cocky because I was a vet tech student and I learned things a certain way in school, but Shannon had many, many years hands-on experience as a vet tech and knew better than me.

I'm so sad for her family. Little Molly and little Isla won't have her to lean on. Poor Steve losing his partner. And Havoc and Bedlam have lost their master. It's just too much.

I just keep thinking about her today. God, she was funny, wasn't she? And she was so smart and no nonsense. I loved how she wasn't afraid to tell it like it is and was always willing to help someone out. What a neat woman. Even my kids know all about her and Havoc and remember the stories I've told them that she shared with us over the years. She affected so many lives. So very many.

ETA: I keep reading about people knowing her just from the pets forum. I realized, she was the main person pushing for that forum (for years). We can mostly thank her for it finally coming about. I remember she even offered to mod it and everything. I that pet's forum. She did a world of good there.

Jes (Proudmamanow) and I knew Shannon from when we were first trying to conceive our DD. Molly is a few months older than our DD. We had gotten together a few times to hang out over the past few years. Shannon had a heart of gold. She was one of those friends who would drop everything if she could help you out. I always enjoyed hanging out with her, chatting and just watching her with her DD. She was so happy to have her children. I am so very sad that they will not know her personally. I am so sad that we will not have more time to get together.

What a loss. My heart goes out to Steve, Molly and Isla.

May you fly forever without pain, now sweet Sister of my Heart. Your strength was inspirational, and your daughters will be loved forever. Go now and be pain free, the angel and guardian to those who haven't quite found their voices.

I'm so incredibly sad. Shannon and I were in the Feb 05 DDC, and have stayed in loose contact since. i'll miss her alot.

I remember back when Molly was small - Shannon couldn't breastfeed due to a medical issue, so she was bottle feeding Molly in a restaurant, where another mama was breastfeeding. A man made a comment that babies should be fed with bottles in public, and so Shannon proceeded to take her shirt off and bottle nurse Molly in support of the breastfeeding mom. Apparently the guy was Furious, and other dining patrons stood up and applauded.

I am so shocked and sad. Shannon and I were TTC at the same time, and both had multiple losses. She was an amazing friend during such a hard time . I tend to shy away from establishing IRL friendships with online friends, but Shannon was so present and real, I couldn't help myself. It seems she touched alot of us.

Steve, Molly and Isla I am holding you in the light tonight.
