I need cloth diaper help!

What am I doing wrong? We have to change an entire outfit during every diaper change and I am changing SO MANY diapers!!! He will just get changed , have a fresh outfit and not even five minutes later his whole outfit is soaked. Is it that the covers are too big, or am I folding the diapers wrong? I seem to have better luck with a prefold with a snappi and a wool cover.
We are using prefolds and covers. I am getting really frustrated!
Any tips or websites I can look at?? I must be doing something wrong because no one would use cloth if it was supposed to be like this! Please help!
What are you using?what works?
Thanks a lot mamas

This is my favorite prefold site: http://diaperpages.com/pf_folds.php

What kind of covers are you using? Are you sure you are getting the diaper all th way in the cover? Are their gaps at the legs? I've never had much luck with trifolding a prefold and just laying it in the cover, since pee can pool at the legs and seep out when they move. We go most days without a leak, so do not fear - once you get the hang of this, your future will be less soggy.

I am using FB pockets and prefolds jelly rolled with a snappi and wool covers. We have had no leaks so far! (knock on wood) I think we would have leaks if I wasn't using the snappi. dd wool covers are slighty too big but seem to be working( imse vimse bumpy wool and aristicrats wool)

Good luck!!!!

Certain dipes *always* leak for me. What kind are you using? How many times did you wash your prefolds? What detergent?

ivymae- I am using Bummis super whisper wraps, Thirsties, and Imse Vimse organic cotton. I am sure to get the whole diaper in the cover but still have wicking:.
kittywitty I amusing Unbleached Indian prefolds.I washed them about four times in hot water before using them. I use the 7th Generation laundry detergent.
We seem to be doing a little better today with the leaking.
Thanks for the replies.

Maybe try and tuck his penis down it may just be laying in the perfect way and have a straight shot out of the leg.

Yes, thanks for the tip. I am new to babies with penises, and was wondering if it was something that needed to be done. Dh diapered him today and got peed on while suggling with him,Solomon's little penis was hanging right out the side of the diaper

: that has happened to the best of us mama! better him than you though. I snappi a prefold and use a BSWW. Sometimes I use Pocket Change Diapers too. I don't do any special kinds of folds.

i second the "jelly roll" along the sides to contain infant poop!

i also have unbleached diapers - maybe run them thru HOT HOT HOT wash again with regular detergent (like tide) and then again with 7th gen to make sure they're stripped. when i got mine, i washed them about 6 times to strip them....

We use the "bikini twist" method for our pefolds and have only ended up w/ poo on our covers twice. I like that better than the jelly roll.
Oh and i second the "point the penis down" thing.

It could be 7th generation detergent that isn't working for you. it didn't work for me.

I agree. The less "natural" the detergent, the better it works.

here's a site w/different folds (with pics!): http://diaperpages.com/pf_folds.php

for our son we use regular chinese pf's, a snappi, bsww and the angel wing fold. while we haven't had many leaking problems, it has become apparent our son is a super soaker, so we're now trying hemp pf's.

Heidi, are you using a onesie over the cover? I find that those *always* wick moisture.
