MarcyC,
Thanks for the reminder that Lactivism begins at home. It saddens me to see the questions that get few or no responses, especially the more complicated ones that are unlikely to resolve themselves.

If I remember correctly my first post on these boards never received a reply. In retrospect it's probably surprising I'm still here.

Well I agree that it's important to support the moms who come to MDC for help and I'll make an effort to do so more often, both my nursing relationships were fairly strait forward. Other than a couple fairly minor insances of mastitis I had nothing that was really a chalange for me so I don't usually feel like I have much to offer for those who are going through things i can only imagine and be glad I didn't have to deal with. That's why I rarely pop in to the bf chalenges board.

I am going to say it right here and right now, be gentle towards those women.

I have been there, done that, and AM there right now with my DS.

Some of these babies/toddlers may be special needs kids. Some of the moms may have complex medical problems.

Lactivism is more than just "my way or the highway". It is about being supportive. If they are one of the rare few who seriously cannot breastfeed, please do not judge them for that or speculate or belittle them.

Please treat them with love and support.

Thank you, kodama! As an EPer who's been trying unsuccessfully for 6 months to get her LO to nurse, your words really touched me.

I so agree with this. Thank you for saying and wording it so much better than I could of.
