hand towels?

I have extra bath towels and would like to make smaller hand towels out of them. Would this work? How should I finish the edges so they actually look nice?

I'd add a binding round the edges. You could make a hanging loop from the binding at the same time.

My mum did this with some of our old flat nappies after we outgrew them.
