Comfy shoes for big 2yo?

My 2 1/2 year old son wears size 9 1/2 shoes (I might even buy him size 10 now). I love the softer shoes like See Kai Run. I really would like to buy him another pair of SKR shoes but they only go up to size 9.

All the shoes for older/bigger kids seem too hard and structured.

We did try Soft Star Shoes but those are really too flat for him.

He does need more of a sole than Robeez type shoes.
But if anyone is looking for Robeez style for bigger kids joshoes.com are great!

Any suggestions?
Thanks!

What do you mean, he needs more of a sole? Does he have special foot issues?
My 2 yr. old (size 9) and 5 yr. old (12.5) are comfortable in Joshoes. I'd like something more fashionable, but I have yet to see any really cute soft-soles past size 9. My 5 yr. old wears Converse sneakers a lot, because they look better, but I think they are probably too hard for a 2 yr. old. Maybe in a size 10 they'd be okay (the shorter they are, the less flexible they are, of course). Also I've seen some hemp shoes with bicycle tire soles before that look like they might be really good.... here they are: http://www.rawganique.com/Dept-Footw...hemp-shoes.htm
or here: http://www.kidbean.com/1507407.html (the bigger sizes are on clearance)

At that age, I gave up. Our son has huge feet (our daughter has merely big feet), and was in a 10/11 by age 2 1/2. (He's 6 now and is wearing and adult size 4 -- it only gets harder as he gets older!)

Inside, he wore only socks (he hated to be barefoot), outside he wore canvas shoes with light rubber soles (like converse, only I think I got them at an Oshkosh outlet). By the time he was 3, he was in the shoes with harder soles.

He needs more of a sole than robeez because we live in a cold climate and I think his feet should have a little more protection when he's outside. The SKR soles were perfect-- not too much, not too little.
The Joshoes are good for indoors-- but if it's cold outside I like him to have some kind of sole.

Thanks for the hemp shoes link, those look good and actually affordable.

I haven't had them yet because DS is only in an 8 right now...but have you seen/tried SKR's sister company?

I would try the sherpa lined winter Crocs. Now we live where it is not super cold all the time, so my kids try to wear TCP knockoff Crocs Athens flip flops for all activities and sports, but when it is colder they will wear Crocs with socks or sneakers. My son is about to turn 3 and he is currently wearing 11XW sneakers I think. I used a foot measurer on him a few weeks ago at a sporting goods store and it put him as a 10W, but he doesn't have much length room in *any* 11 brand he's tried, so IDK. At any rate, Stride Rite sneakers have been just fine for some time.

Thanks. Those look great. Do you have any idea where I could buy them online? I can't seem to find them anywhere.

They are expensive, but my 5yo has a hand-me-down pair of Eccos that are just awesome. The leather is nice and supple, and the sole is protective without being constricting. My boys are also addicted to their Crocs, but we don't wear them outdoors in the winter.

Ours are sort of like these here.

I usually only buy the boys 2 pairs of shoes a year, so I can justify to myself spending a bit more on them (others are hand-me-downs). But I'm not sure if I would have bought them at full price.

I don't know if you've bought Joshoes before, but the soles and leather are MUCH thicker than Robeez. Ours have foam in the sole and are fleece-lined. It gets down around 0 here in Michigan and they work really well and are waterproof. I think that with the foam added, they are about the same thickness as SKR, only warmer because of the fleece.

We have these

for DS. They are flexible enough that I can bend them in half, but still have good traction, etc. They are machine-washable. They run wide and big, imo. They are really easy to get on, the tongue is sewn down on one side so it can't get jammed down inside the shoe, the velcro over is just one big strap, etc. DS loves them.

Vans are also super flexible (they also run wide). They are less expensive, but got trashed really fast under DS' hard use. DS loved his Vans, but I got tired of them looking trashed so fast.

Wow, those look super cool! I'll have to bookmark them.
