This will be somewhat short but I wanted to send out an update. Moriah Faith joined our family at 10:54 a.m on January 14th. She was 9 pounds 11 ounces, 21 and 3/4 inches long.. 14 and 3/4 in. head..a bit of dark hair.. I am too tired to post pictures yet but willl once I get some sleep caught up. We went to the hospital when labor started and a very urgent voice inside of me told me to go to the hospital and get an epidural; This went against all of MY CAREFULLY LAID PLANS I didn't understand why.. but I knew this felt very different from my other births.. not more painful but very different and this feeling was very intense and urgent that home was not the place where this birth should take place (I can't believe I typed that!). Of course the night before our area had received some black ice and light snow.. we had to drive 20 mph to the hospital and passed about 4 wrecks along the way at about 6 a.m..and I thought our baby was going to be born on the side of the road, LOL. We got to the hospital right as our Dr. came on call--perfect timing. It was a blessing that he was able to attend.. he knows our hearts and also loves God and supported our wishes throughout the preganncy and then for the birth. Honestly, I didn't understand why things were so different until I started to push her out and we were all very shocked to hear the Dr. announce (rather shocked I may add), that she was BREECH! (No one in the room had ever seen a vaginal breech before..including the Dr.) The room got a bit fuller after that, LOL but our Dr. still was able to catch our baby and he was very supportive of my ability to birth this baby breech, despite the ob in the corner, (I just asked her to be quiet as she was not supportive and ignored her as best as I could). God had His hand on so many things with this pregnancy and birth and I will explain more in detailed birth story later on..but I am so thankful that I listened to that still small voice in my head (always listen to that voice!!!) Labor lasted about 8 hours.. much longer than my usual 2 hour labors and rapid births but just right for this birth. The name Moriah means "God teaches"; it also has a connetation of sacrifice..(in the biblical story where Abraham was willing to follow God's instructions to sacrifice his long awaited child when He thought God told him to do so). Sacrificing our desire for a homebirth when we didn't understand why.. humbling myself to ask for an epidural when I thought I would NEVER do that, and just trusting that the process would be what it needed to be. Right now I am very tired and Moriah is a little gassy and getting the hang of nursing like a pro-- but everything went great otherwise and I am very thankful our daughter is now here. I did bleed end up hemorraging shortly after the birth and continuing throughout the day so that held me up a bit and I had to be on several different medications throughout the day to slow the bleeding but by a day later things had gotten much better and although it was discussed as the next step, we were able to avoid a D & C, (*Thank you Jesus!). I won't be online much for a bit but I wanted to update.. and just to share how thankful I am for that "still small voice" in my head and how thankful I am that I listened...even when I didnt understand why
