Are there any natural or non-medical centered research for Tachycardia during pregnancy. The studies I have found, include medications (Possibly worsening the situation) and c/s.

Sustained over 100 or 120+ for short time periods... But some of the studies are including 130+ as the base.

One of the things you can try is holding your breath and bearing down. Not bearing down in your bottom so much as in your chest, if you understand what I am describing. It's called valsalva technique and can stop the tachycardia. You can google supraventricular tachycardia for the most common reason for tachycardia in pregnancy. You may want to consult a health professional for a diagnosis. Short periods that resolve on their own are generally considered safe.

Some "palpitations" are normal. Anything that supports the cardiovascular system will help - good blood volume, enough iron to make sufficient red blood cells, treatment for anxiety, if appropriate.

I had good luck with a magnesium supplement in pregnancy. I used Natural Calm. They also have a type called Mama Calm and it has some other vitamins and minerals in it.

Hope it gets better.

I agree with Apricot - esp as the blood volume peaks there seems to be a week or so of increased heart rate, almost to the point of women feeling like they are having an anxiety attack. Unlike an anxiety attack, though, it passes really quickly.

Essential fatty acids- both fish oils and flax, CoQ10, Magnesium-- Berries, you could drink some soothing teas as well - chamomile, passionflower

do you notice any pattern? do you have any environmental exposures? - my brother use to be a cabinet maker and the glues would really do a number on him-

try to eat several small meals a day rather than bigger meals and be sure you get protein in each- for a late night snack almonds or peanut butter and crackers- or some cheese
stay away from caffeine- both coffee, and tea, green tea also that chocolate relative- stay away from simple sugars or highly processed foods- oh and any of those new energy drinks
get plenty of fluids

there are certain herbs to avoid-- ginkgo, ginseng, guarana, rhodiola some people marijuana can cause palpations (has to do with it's effects on blood sugar mainly)-- avoid things you know you are allergic to- like cats or mold, wheat...

I have always been this way, esp. during pg. ALong with palpitations. The Mama Calm did help, FWIW, but I never took meds for it or had a c-section.

I have tachy (on bad days it would stay around 120 with jumps to 140 with activity) and PVC's when I'm pg. Consulted with a cardiologist and he says it is not dangerous to me or baby and we managed without heart meds (3 pgs and although I say I'm done, he says another pg wouldn't be a problem). He considers medication side effects more harmful than the symptoms.

I had unmedicated vaginal births with all 3...the last 2 at home. We did check thyroid and potassium levels. I also took cal/mag supplements, avoided caffiene, and any activity that caused a raised rate (esp sweeping/vacuuming).

Yep, me too. I run around 100 - 110 normally.

I just went thru a round of palpitations and had an echo and a 24 hour holter monitor. Of course by the time I got the echo/monitor scheduled, they palipations had subsided greatly. It seems they come and go. There was only one on the monnitor which cooresponded with my note of a flutter. They said it was a PVC.

If it continues beyond pregnancy, I'll have it further investigated.

I have heard of success with motherwort tincture and magnesium supplements.
