Moving Moms!

Since I know there are quite a few of us that are either moving right before baby comes, or right after, I figured we needed our own thread to cheer (and commiserate) in!

I FINALLY got a relatively firm date today...and I will hopefully be on the mainland within the next two weeks. (As long as my relatively firm date stays firm...we'll know next Wednesday.)

I will have movers to pack, so I don't have to worry about that, thank God. I AM having a fun time trying to figure out how to fit everything we are going to need (and enough toys for DD to be entertained) for the next 60-90 days into four suitcases and four carry-ons. Because our approval took so long, I will have no choice but to get a new car seat once we get to where we are going, because there's no way the second car seat will make it in time, and I don't want to forego checking a whole suitcase in lieu of the car seat.

So, while so many in our DDC are anxiously awaiting their little one's arrival, I'm anxiously hoping mine will keep cooking for at least two more weeks!

Okay, who's next?

we just moved about a month ago. I've moved twice during this pregnancy, and I am very tired and discombobulated from it. My husband's company moved us both times and this last time we had these AWFUL movers that broke a bunch of our stuff and left these awful stains all over our carpets. I'm still picking up the pieces from it (insurance, etc.) How's that for comiserating?

We moved in on the 29th of Dec, after a couple weeks of being between homes..Starting to feel settled but still have lots of boxes to be gone through...I'm happy to have a little more time to unpack, but I'm 1 cm and 50% effaced, so we'll see how long it she waits!

ugh Zuluspetals that sucks. Sorry to hear that.

we are looking for an apt that does short term leasing in Ga right now. Each house we look at is either under contract, or something is wrong with it.
we still have so much packing to do but I cannot get motivated to do it. O'well we can throw stuff in a box and be on our way.

We're building a house and it's set to be finished late feb or early march. I'm irritated that I don't have a more firm date because I feel the need to organize the crap out of everything right now. Although I should be hearing from them soon to tell me when everything is set to go. I'm sure if I call them they will just tell me that it's "on schedule" for spring, but we've been told late feb early march.
I want to avoid paying a mortgage and rent in the same month, so I need them to get their poop in a group. Oh and I'm hoping that I don't go to 42 weeks because that will land me in the middle of what is expected to be moving time.
FUN!

I am going through the stress and anxiety of trying to find a new home to move into! I have 38 days till my EDD and 2 days ago our landlord decided to give us a 30 day notice saying that he wants to remodel this home and sell it instead of continuing to rent it out so all of a sudden we have to move. I have had a feeling this entire pregnancy that this was not the house I was really meant to give birth in but the way everything is playing out so close to my due date is making me very stressed.

I'm hoping we find a place even better for us within the next 2 weeks so that I can have some time to settle in and relax, before my son decides to come out and meet us.

My toddler is still nursing CONSTANTLY! and the contractions she is giving me make me fear that he will come early. I hope not!

I really want to move before baby comes. I'm not sure if it will happen. DP is overseas and won't be back until Feb 3. I should be packing, but MW told me today that I should hold off and rest more. On both Sunday and Thursday this week I have had very light spotting, dark red not bright or pink. She thinks its nothing to worry about at this point because I don't have other symptoms that would go along with abruption. She thinks maybe I had a small part of the placenta tear away from the uterine wall, and wants me to take some vit. E for a few days in addition to rest.

So I don't know if it will happen since DP wont be back until 3 weeks before my due date. ARRGH! : I really would rather not give birth in this home and so I am hoping the universe will provide a way for us to be in another home before the baby comes. :

We moved in October, and we'll be moving again this spring when Olive is wee... but I'll be moving cross country by myself, since DH will be in school. I think I'll go from HI to CA and stay in CA for a while, then meet DH in Florida just to break it up a bit and visit my parents in CA... but I'm not looking forward to long flights with a toddler and a little baby.

LOL, this is why I've been bugging to get the heck out of HI while I only have long flights with a toddler; to prevent having long flights with a toddler and a little baby. I feel for you!!

Weeks. You have mere weeks to throw together a PCS.

Are you going to try to go to the Farm?

Weeks? Try 12 days. (But who's counting?) My ERD paperwork won't be signed until next week. (It's approved, but the person who has to sign it won't be back on island until then.) Still, I'll take this over flying to the east coast with a toddler and a newborn!

The Farm is too far away. (We're moving to Chattanooga.) The midwife group that was GOING to take me (at a birthing center close to Knoxville) decided that since I wasn't going to make it there until 37 weeks, they weren't going to take me. My first daughter was delivered with a midwife in a hospital in Chattanooga, so I'm going back to her. Everyone at the hospital was great, and they have wireless monitoring, so they can get their little strip to look at and I'm not confined to the bed, so I'm not TOO upset that I'll be in a hospital.

Or I'll give birth on the plane. It's a very long flight from here to Atlanta. Plenty of time to go into labor.

Always, have you checked with the airline? The one I fly most frequently will not allow me to board after 36 weeks, period, end of discussion. Just check ahead, you don't want to be denied boarding!

We got an offer on our house and we were SUPPOSED to go out for a final round of house hunting tomorrow morning. All that was standing between us and some real final planning was the home inspection, and the house has passed two inspections in the last year - ours, and a buyer who was unable to sell their house so the deal fell through.

So OF COURSE the most recent buyer hired an inspector who happens to be the president of the local inspector's association. He spent three and a half hours (on a three bedroom house with no attic or basement). The list of "defects" is as long as my arm. Apparently my insulation is an inch short of proper fluffiness, my dryer vent is stuck open, the window over the soaking tub (four feet over the tub, by the way, I can hardly reach the latches even if I were stupid enough to stand up in a tub full of water) isn't safety glass, and on and on and on.

Basically, the kind of crap you just live with when it's your house, but what a buyer uses to try and crank down the offer price... which was low to begin with.

We're terrified the deal is going to fall apart

Sure did! They have said that as long as I'm not in labor, they don't care how pregnant I am. (Thank goodness!!)

I know there are several that don't allow boarding past 36 weeks, and some that require a medical certificate, and I somehow lucked out with an airline that doesn't care about either.

I couldn't take it anymore! I finally called the management and got ahold of her. (I called yesterday and emailed, no response..so I was getting antsy) and told her, "I'm sorry to keep bothering you, but.. I'm not sure if the site manager told you but, I'm expecting a baby on the 12th and I really don't want to pack things up and find out it fell through." And she assured me that it was final, done deal, all that needs to be done is paperwork signed. She said our move in date is set for Feb 1st!

:

I've got 13 days to pack! I'm so excited to have it be FINAL! Moving 11 days before my due date is some crazy stuff! LOL

We just finished moving. Well, I guess you can call it finished - we're completely out of the old place but both cars are still loaded down with stuff waiting to be brought in here b/c there's no room/energy to move them!

The most stressful part for me was feeling like I wanted to be making baby items/preparing and not hauling boxes and selling furniture. I finally relented and let the ladies from church come and help me pack and clean the last day. I was just about worn down to tears even though most of the work was already done.

I am thankful for some part of it though - we moved into a much smaller place (yeah for downsizing when the family is growing! ) and it forced us to purge out all of the things we didn't need. I hope that will be a good skill learned for later when kiddy stuff starts piling up!

You're due a week BEFORE I am and you almost didn't let people help? You crazy. Let people show their love!

Heck, I feel so huge that I leave packed boxes wherever they sat as I filled them, and let other people scootch 'em over six feet to the wall.
