We're moving. Don't know where yet, but the lease is up 31 Jan... :

I've been slacking. I did a little flurry of packing at first, but then I lost my motivation and energy. The closing hasn't been scheduled yet, so maybe when it is I'll start to feel the pressure and get moving again. Meanwhile my livingroom is a mess of big plastic crates and stacks of junk, and the rest of the house is in similar chaos. Oh, and my midwife is coming for her home visit on Wednesday. Joy.

I think I officially overdid it.

You know the "crease" where your legs meet your torso, in the front? (Well THAT was really descriptive! I don't know how else to describe that area!) Mine are KILLING me. As in, serious pain.

Nevermind the fact that I took four 20+ pound boxes to the post office - with a two year old in tow - today, and the post office workers are "not allowed" to help you put them up on the counter. Or that I've been going up and down stairs trying to get things packed into suitcases (because anything that's left out when the movers get here will go into a box, and I won't see it for six months). Or that I have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off since the move paperwork was approved on Wednesday. Or that I am trying to get everything ready so that the movers can pack quickly and efficiently, so that I'm not so stressed out when they show up bright and early on Monday morning.

I am SO looking forward to a nice 9 hour, overnight flight, with on demand TV. (I was dumb and had our satellite service cut off yesterday...we've been stuck with DVDs all day, and will be stuck with them until we leave.) People ask if I'm dreading the flight, and that's what I'm MOST looking forward to!

I can't wait for the day I can come back to this thread and say, "We arrived, and I can finally relax until the baby comes!"

Now, break's over...off to pack yet another box to go off to the post office....

Yay for good news! The town inspector came through and wrote up a 23 page report on the house. There are tons of issues. But they're mostly minor issues, and most of them can be taken care of by us after we move in. There are only two or three things that must be fixed before the house can be occupied. After those ar done we can schedule a closing, get the painting done (which should only take a couple of days) and then we can move! I so want to birth this baby in the new house, so it's really so wonderful that things are starting to move along.

From thinking we'd have to tear out the whole basement floor and put in a new one to this news in under a week. What a rollercoaster!

Ooh, Gatherergirl, gimme some of that luck. Our offer on the house we're moving into was accepted, but we still have to get through the home inspection, and we are totally dreading it. The house had blue shag carpeting, which tells you how long it's been since it was inspected and sold...

Just today, and three more packing days left.
Friday friday friday friday friday friday .....

between the guy that died on the floor below us from a drug OD a few weeks ago, and the pedophile on the first floor.. I am SO GLAD to be leaving this building! I've left a lifetime of "I hate living on the 3rd floor" posts on MDC over the years..

At the end of tomorrow, I will no longer officially be a "Moving Mom"...not that I don't like you guys, but I am SO glad that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Movers were here yesterday, and wanted to do the entire house in one day. I didn't expect that, and still had DD in cloth diapers, and no plans for a hotel, so I told them that they had to leave just my mattress (not even the boxspring), the washer/dryer, and the vacuum cleaner, and could take everything else. Apparently their main office decided that if they were going to have to come back a second day anyway, that they'd leave in the early afternoon.

So, they are coming back in about an hour, they have two rooms to pack up, and then they are done. Technically, all I have left to do today is vacuum the floors, weedwack the backyard (and it is currently POURING down rain), get all the trash out (and find a dumpster to put it in), have my housing inspection, drop my car off to be shipped, and get on a plane.

Did I mention that I have the lovely task of figuring out how to check in four huge suitcases, with a 2 year old in tow (although I was smart enough to keep out the double stroller to use, so her car seat will take up one of those seats), with four carryons? (And no, I couldn't pare down the carryons - too much stuff that couldn't go with the movers and/or couldn't be mailed and/or couldn't go into checked baggage.) I managed to do the same thing when she was a 6 month old and we were on our way out here, because an airline employee took pity on me, but I wasn't 36 weeks pregnant at the time, and I would be shocked if an airline employee took pity on me here.

So, a big Aloooooha to you guys, hope the rest of the moving moms are hanging in there. Please send good vibes for today, because I'm counting on everything working like clockwork for once!

wow good luck on your flight!!

We have secured and apartment in GA, which is so good to know. We are still looking at houses, the realtor is supposed to get back to us on one today how it looks and what not. If we like it enough to put a bid on it that would be cool. if we are not in contract by Feb. 20th, we will just be moving into the apt for a few months. Which isn't all bad. I have been very slack about packing, and so has dh. i guess it will get done when he starts his leave and when my mom gets here on or around the 14th. most of the stuff that is not packed we are still using so that makes it a little harder.

nature...how have you been feeling? any better?

Just wanted to check back in - it was quite the eventful two days, and if I sat here and wrote it all out, it would be two pages long, but we are finally done with the "moving" bit, thank God!

I got REALLY dizzy after we finally finished traveling...I think it was a combination of lack of sleep, hunger, and pure exhaustion...but a halfway decent night's rest (DD kicked her jet lag really quickly; I have not been so lucky), I can walk without holding onto walls anymore. The actual traveling part probably would've been a lot easier on me if I didn't have the stress and lack of sleep from the two moving days before it, because DD was a champ.

But, after a LONG time coming, we FINALLY made it home. Want to send all of my good moving vibes (because I definitely had good moving vibes) to all of you!!! Hope everyone is hanging in there!
