? about a 6.5 yr old's mouth

(I debated if I should put this in Dental but I figured everyone who posts in Childhood years probably has experience w/ this).

When do children normally lose their first baby tooth? I really thought it was around 5 - 6 yrs old. I've even known a few kids who lost one at 4.5 yrs. My dd is almost 7. She has perfectly healthy teeth and great eating habits. But not one single tooth is loose yet. I'm only concerned because she is bothered by it. Most of her friends lost a tooth or two in kindergarten. Now ALL her friends in 1st grade have lost teeth except her. She's feeling left out and constantly says "feel my tooth". Of course, it's nowhere near loose.

hmm, i think my son lost his first tooth around that age. it seems on the late side, but perhaps not. some kids have them all get loosey at the same time, while others lose them slowly, slowly...

I remember feeling just like your DD. I didn't lose my first tooth until 3rd grade! I should have been careful what I wished for, because once one came out, they came out pretty much one right after the other. There was nothing wrong with me, though. Just like all the other growing up markers, every kid's body is different.

On a positive note, I didn't have my first cavity until I got pregnant with DD at 26. My childhood dentist said my teeth were stronger for having spent less time being exposed to decay.

I could have written this post exactly word for word, except I got pregnant at 18.

OMgosh, do we share a dd? My dd is 6.5 and still hasn't lost any teeth either. She also keeps asking me to feel her teeth which are not loose at all. The dental hygentist said that one of her teeth was a tiny bit loose and that probably in the next 6 months or so it would fall out. That was 8months ago and it's driving dd batty. Plus she is friends with older kids who have already lost several teeth. I have a feeling it's because her baby teeth came in late so the big ones are too. Of course dd doesn't want to hear that.

I went through the same thing and I still don't have any cavities and I'm 36! I did have to have braces though because my teeth were so resistant to coming out that some of my adult teeth came in on top of the baby teeth which then had to be pulled. I sure hope that doesn't happen to her.
