Is losing ur plug from an exam the same as losing it naturally?

Ok so I realize now I didn't lose my plug because it naturally came out. I lost it the day after an exam so that is what happened with that.

My mom and I are debating. She thinks losing it is losing it. She thinks I am still not far from labour because it came out. I on the other hand kind of feel it is not the same thing. I do not feel any closer to seeing my baby and I don't have any signs what so ever that labour is going to happen anytime soon. My BH are even getting more rare. I am just a normal 38 weeker at this point.

So does anyone know if it makes a difference how you lost it or is it kinda like ok, it's gone now. Body get ready?

It depends what makes you feel better, really. The mucus plug does have an irritating and infuriating tendency to reform in order to keep baby protected from infection, but at least it means you get all the fun of losing it again- and again- and again.
Going back to the picture, I don't think it was entirely down to the exam because IME (and based on the grapevine) if it was down to someone messing with your cervix you'd expect there to be more red blood in there from capillaries burst during the exam. I know what you mean, though- I feel further away from labour now than I did a week ago, even though I'm still contracting.

Personally in my experience, losing your plug exam or not.. doesn't always mean anything at all. Birth could still be days, weeks, or even months away.

Sorry!
