38 weeks--amazing!!

Today I am 37 weeks and 6 days. At this exact point in my pregnancy with ds I was in labor : The crazy thing is, I have been looking back at his newborn pictures and I CANNOT believe that the baby in my belly is this much of a little person already! I feel like it must be a mistake, or my dates must be off (I know they are not) because it is just so impossible that I could be carrying around a baby inside that looks and acts so much like... a newborn baby!!

Here are two pictures of ds' first day earthside

Can you believe that our babies look like that?? It blows my mind!!

The reality is mind blowing for me too! I think much more so that with DD because I know what's coming. This time I know the miracle to be and it is utterly amazing that this whole little baby is inside me!!

Yep. Isaac was born at 37+5, and I know what you mean- fundamentally, as well, he was no different from my two post-termers, certainly not from Skye. Just- a baby. A person. With personality and character and stuff.

It has really been blowing my mind too. When I watch my belly move around it is hard for me to believe that there is a person in there!

SF- CONGRATS!!! I know how excited you must be and how excited i will personally be to make it to 38 weeks (having not done that last time, either!). Yeah, it is so crazy to think of how developed they already are.

and, how much more fabulous it will be for them to keep on growing inside for just a couple more weeks. yayyyy!!!!

I love those newborn pictures. I am a first timer. I find it a little overwhelming to think that I have a baby in my belly. A real person with all those things, personality and uniqueness. I know it to be real, but its really more than I can wrap my mind around and understand the depths I feel. I am only 34 weeks, so this little one really needs to stay in and cook longer, esp. cuz daddy is overseas and wont be back until I am in week 37. But my MW estimated this week that I have about 5 lbs of baby in my belly. What am I going to do with a baby?!

I still find myself looking at my son and thinking or saying, "You know, most people your age aren't even born yet!"

I made the right judgement call in his case, but there is a WIDE variation of normal in the human gestational age. This guy nurses and breathes beautifully, but he is so sensitive to being jostled that I hate to think of how he would have handled heel sticks, eye goo, vitamin K etc.

Another newborn his age might have needed oxygen.

It's so much better to trust our babies and our bodies and not try to induce them to be more convenient to our schedules. I understand the temptation and I actually did try to induce dd with castor oil because of exy's work schedule.

I'm so glad it didn't work, because obviously she needed a bit more time to cook than her little brother did.

I love being pregnant and could never understand why anyone would want to rush and induce. To me this is such a special time that just belongs to me and my in-utero baby. A time that I don't have to share with anyone. The movements, hiccups that occassional punch or kick that really hurts and all of the aches and pains that come with just make me so proud to be able to experience something so wonderful. I'm glad I'm not alone in enjoying my pregnancy.

I too am really enjoying my pregnancy and do not want to rush it. This is our 4th and probably last baby, so I am savoring every single second of it. I am 38 weeks today and really hoping for another 3 weeks or so!

We're due mid-February and I too am hoping to savor every pregnant moment.

*brain explodes*

Wow, SF, those are pretty mindboggling when you put it like that! (Gorgeous baby, BTW )

My better half and I were househunting all day today, and my swimmy fish was just kicking like crazy the whole time. I'm only 35w3d right now, lots of time left, but I already know I'll miss the snuggly kicks. "He once was mine," as it were.

Won't miss the bladder punches, though.

It feel the same way SF, looking back at ds's baby pics I'm overwhelmed that this little guy is that much of a person. He still doesn't seem "real" to me in a way, not that real anyway! I was just daydreaming of how he'll look today...
