My DH's cousin who's a post partum nurse pointed this out to me and thinks I'll go into labour then.
I wonder.

That's my due date. We'll see if he waits that long

Umm, not to burst a bubble, but Feb 6th is the new moon, the 20th is the full... (we're coming up on a full this Tuesday).

heh heh, good to know, I'll have to point that out to her!

My midwife swears that she sees more births on a new moon than a full moon.

Well when I was pg with DD who "should" have been early after ptl (but came 4 days late) we had a full moon total lunar eclipse and NADA!!!! til like 5 days later LOL. So don't get too excited!

My due date is February 7th, but February 6th sounds good to me...
it's a wednesday & my midwife is only on call on Wednesdays (though I'd be comfortable with any of the midwives at the practice), it's a new moon, and it's the last day of the year of the lucky "Golden Pig" (Chinese New Year starts February 7th)...!

We'll see

All of mine have been around the new moon, normally a few days before. I'm hoping- but I don't want to do this any more.
Does this mean there's a full moon coming up?

Full moon this coming Tuesday (22nd). I better not have a roommate at the hospital.

yeah, this week I told my OB about the full moon and told him not to go anywhere next week!

Feb 20th sounds good to me, am I the only one who can wait? It seems like everyone is in such a hurry. I guess it is because my hubby has been in Iraq. He is coming back in just over a week, and I want time for just the three of us before baby boy makes his appearance. I am excited to meet him but I am totally at peace waiting. My dd was "late" too so I guess I am just prepared to wait a while this time too.

Good luck to all, I hope our babies come out when they are ready!

I can wait, but I'd like my uterus to stop practicing. I'm on day 3 of continuous 5minute apart/1minute long contractions (again), and I'd like to be either IN labour or OUT of labour. Don't mind which

I can wait too. My DP is also overseas for family stuff and wont be back until Feb 3rd. So I am perfectly fine with this little one waiting until due date of 2-24. I may regret this later, but at this point I wouldn't mind if I go a little late. It's my first, so I still want to hold on to the "just the two of us" with DP a little longer, and really, I can't even imagine what my life with be like with a baby. I know, everyone says I will do fine, but the idea of it is something I cant quite fathom at this time.

One of the docs at my practice said that they see the most births about 1-2 days after a full moon - that the full moon tends to start labor - the pull on the "tides" - in our case, the amniotic fluid. But like a lot of things with pregnancy, every doctor/mw has a different answer & different theory...That said, I have a guess that I'll have a full moon baby! My EDD is the 17th or 18th (Feb) - very close to the full moon. I'm guessing Baby will decide to wait just a few extra days, because why not!

My doula said the same thing as slgt's doc. Typically the influx of birth happens the day or 2 after a full moon. In my case it was exactly right. DD was due 10/2, a full moon, and born early 10/4. I'll be interested to see if it pans out in this DDC!

My DD was due 5/20 and about halfway through her pregnancy I looked at the calender and saw that the full moon was 5/16 and from then on I said that she would be born on 5/16...and her birthday is 5/16! It could also be she choose that day because it was really inconvient-it was my MW's birthday, and my mom had to be in another town the next day that was only 1 hour from her house, but 3 in the opposite direction from mine!

This time we're really expecting Aidan to show up Monday night or Tuesday-1. there's the full moon thing, 2. my IF has Monday off but a completely packed week at work that he can't get out of, and 3. it's suppose to snow on Mon/Tue (and it never snows here!) and we have a 2 hour drive to make once labor starts! We're thinking the full moon just tops off the fact that it'll be a really inconvenient time for him to come now.

My mom used to be the head nurse at a really small hospital out in the sticks and she said full moons were always crazy for babies. They could go all month with only one or two deliveries, then right at full moon they'd have 5 ladies in labor.

i'm really hoping NOT to go on the 20th, it's my fil's birthday. yucky.

None of my babies were born anywhere near a full moon.

any chance you can look up what the moon cycle was in 2003? I had never thought about if maybe dd was born on or near the full or new moon.
